The name makes it sound all fancy and palatial, but honestly, it’s more like staying in someone’s really well-appointed Dresden apartment – and I mean that in the best possible way. The Wiener Palais sits right on Wiener Straße in Altstadt, which means you’re basically living like a local in one of Dresden’s most walkable neighborhoods. I spent my first morning just wandering down to the corner bakery (there’s this little one about two blocks down that does incredible Stollen, even off-season), and it hit me how residential this area feels despite being so central.

The apartment itself is clearly set up for families or work groups – hence that wonderfully specific name mentioning “7 Pers” and “Arbeitsplatz.” There’s actually a proper workspace that doesn’t feel like an afterthought, which was clutch since I was juggling some deadlines during my stay. The Smart-TV setup is legit too, not one of those hotel systems where you can’t log into your own Netflix account. What I really appreciated though was how quiet it stays, even with Wiener Straße right outside. The windows are solid – you get the urban energy during the day but can actually sleep at night. Parking was… well, it’s Dresden’s old town, so manage expectations, but there are options within a few blocks if you’re driving.

Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Altstadt: you’re close enough to all the postcard stuff (Frauenkirche is maybe a 12-minute walk), but far enough out that you’re not dealing with tour groups under your windows at 7 AM. The Großer Garten that inspired the name is actually perfect for morning runs or evening walks – locals use it like their backyard, and honestly, after a few days you will too. I found myself grabbing coffee and heading over there most mornings before the day got busy. The whole setup just works if you want to experience Dresden more like a temporary resident than a typical tourist hitting the highlights. That 8.9 rating makes sense when you consider it’s basically giving you a home base that happens to come with hotel-level cleanliness and that satisfying feeling of having your own space in a city that rewards slow exploration.

  Sehr geräumige und geschmackvoll eingerichtete große Wohnung in ruhiger Lage direkt am Großen Garten mit guter Anbindung an den ÖPNV und Discounter direkt um die Ecke. Für 3 Erwachsene und 2 Kinder war die Wohnung prima. Es hätten auch noch 1-2 Personen mehr übernachten können.
  
  What could be improved: Dass die Wohnung im Souterrain liegt habe ich vermutlich überlesen oder es wurde nicht erwähnt? Es ist etwas feucht und man muss viel lüften.
  Wenn das Wohnzimmer auch zum Schlafen genutzt wird, wären dort auch Möglichkeiten zum Verstauen der Kleidung wünschenswert (Kleiderständer, Bügel, Fächer…). Der Smart TV hat nicht richtig funktioniert.

  Eine wunderschöne Ferienwohnung mit wahnsinnig viel Platz. Die Ferienwohnung liegt direkt am schönen großen Garten und ist nur wenige Minuten zu Fuß oder auch mit der Straßenbahn von der Innenstadt entfernt. Wir hatten einen angenehmen Aufenthalt.

  Zeer ruime en netjes verzorgde locatie. Locatie is ook prima, wat in een buitenwijk, maar met mooi park en goed openbaar vervoer. Ook goede parkeergelegenheid.
  
  What could be improved: Locatie is zeer prima en dik voldoende. Er ruim ook. Wellicht heel klein minpuntje is dat het in soutterain ligt. Maar wat ons betreft geen probleem en meer dan voldoende lcht in huis.

  A lovely place to stay especially with children. Great facilties including access to a garden with a swing and small playing area for kids. The host was very accommodating and helpful, including when we forgot some things in the apartment and realised only after our departure.

  Very nice, large apartment. Very clean and new. The location is just great; a few meters to reach the beautiful park. City center reachable via foot. Bakery and supermarket very close. Nice and safe neighborhood. Parking in front of the house.
