The thing about Pillnitz is that most tourists rush through to see the palace and gardens, but they’re missing out on this whole residential area that feels like a secret. This villa sits right in that sweet spot where you get the peaceful, almost village-like atmosphere – I actually heard birds in the morning instead of traffic, which was wild for being so close to a major city. The apartment itself has that solid German quality you hope for but don’t always get in vacation rentals. Nothing fancy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works properly, the heating’s reliable (crucial if you’re visiting in shoulder season), and there’s enough space to actually unpack your stuff instead of living out of a suitcase. The 9.8 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be a luxury hotel, but it absolutely nails what it is.

What really sold me was how easy it made exploring both sides of Dresden’s personality. You can walk down to the Elbe for those gorgeous river views everyone talks about, or catch public transport into the Altstadt when you want the full historic city experience. The Pillnitz Palace is basically next door – and I mean this literally, you can walk there in your pajamas if you wanted to catch sunrise over the gardens (which, by the way, is ridiculously beautiful and completely free). But here’s the insider thing most people don’t realize: staying out here means you avoid all the cruise ship crowds that flood central Dresden during summer days. You get to experience the city like someone who actually lives here, then retreat to this quiet hillside spot where your biggest decision is whether to have coffee on the terrace or take a walk along the river path. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing too – check-in was smooth, everything was exactly as described, and they left those little touches that show they actually care about your stay rather than just collecting booking fees.

  In unserer Ferienwohnung haben wir uns vom ersten Augenblick rundum wohl gefühlt. Die Wohnung ist super sauber und toll eingerichtet mit vielen liebevollen Details. Die Ausstattung ist gelungen in der Küche ist alles vorhanden was man benötigt und das Bett ist super bequem.
  Das Highlight war die Führung von Herrn Wanitschke durch den großartigen Garten und das Atelier seines Vaters.
  Einen großen Dank an die netten Gastgeber, Sie haben einem von Anfang an ein angenehmes Gefühl vermittelt. Von Anfang bis Ende hat einfach alles gepasst.

  Eine außerordentlich schöne Ferienwohnung, eingerichtet mit viel Liebe im Detail in perfekter ruhiger Lage und Nähe zu Dresden und der sächsischen Schweiz und fußläufig zu Pillnitz mit sehr netten Gastgebern und Terrasse zum Draußen sitzen – einfach perfekt!

  Ein sehr netter Empfang und eine wirklich herrliche Ferienwohnung, dort fehlt es inklusive Umgebung an nichts. Auch mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln ist man schnell in der Innenstadt Dresden. Auch Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants vor Ort sind gegeben. Die Führung von Herrn Wanitschke durch das Atelier seines Vaters hat diesen Aufenthalt absolut abgerundet. Wir werden definitiv keine andere Unterkunft wählen, wenn wir die schöne, beeindruckende Stadt Dresden wieder besuchen.

  Hervoragende Lage. Sehenswürdigkeiten an der Elbe in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar.

  What could be improved: Leider war der Urlaub mit einer Woche in diesem schönen Ambiente bei einer tollen Gegend zu kurz angesetzt.
