Walking down Schützengasse, you’re literally in the heart of Dresden’s old town, and I mean the real deal, not some touristy interpretation of it. The cobblestones under your feet are worn smooth from centuries of use, and you can actually hear the cathedral bells from your window if you open it in the morning.

The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile – which I actually appreciated after staying in too many cookie-cutter hotels lately. It’s got that slightly creaky European charm where the floors tell stories and the radiators make interesting noises at night, but nothing that keeps you awake. The rooms are spacious by German standards (seriously, compared to some Berlin shoebox I stayed in last year, this felt palatial), and there’s enough natural light streaming through those tall windows that you don’t need to flip on every lamp during the day. The kitchen setup is decent enough if you want to grab groceries from the Rewe around the corner – though honestly, with all the restaurants within a five-minute walk, I barely used it except for morning coffee. Speaking of which, parking can be a bit of a nightmare around here during peak season, so maybe plan for that if you’re driving in.

What really sells this place, though, is how you can stumble out the front door and be at the Frauenkirche in about three minutes, or wander over to the Zwinger in maybe eight. But here’s the thing locals know – if you walk the opposite direction toward the Elbe, there’s this little stretch along the riverbank where you get the perfect view of the old town skyline, especially around sunset when all the baroque architecture catches that golden light. The area gets pretty buzzy with tourists during the day, sure, but early mornings or later evenings it settles into this lovely rhythm where you hear more German than English and actually feel like you’re experiencing Dresden rather than just checking it off a list. The 7.5 rating seems about right to me – it’s solid, authentic, and the location really can’t be beat, even if some of the fixtures could use updating and the Wi-Fi occasionally decides to take coffee breaks.

  Very clean and close to train.
  
  What could be improved: We couldn’t connect to the WiFi or find the guest book that the password was supposed to be written in. The couch bed is not appropriate for an adult but would have been excellent for a child. The shower did not drain properly

  The apartment was spacious and well located (close to the city center).
  
  What could be improved: The wifi was slow and often cut out. The apartment was rather cold (although radiators were used). There was no soap provided in the bathroom. The sofa bed was a mattress on the floor and somewhat uncomfortable.

  What could be improved: Small kitchen – no space to place drying dishes
  Only warm water in shower (did mention to Tobias and he will check it)
  Restaurant right next to apartment. 2 of our 3 nights the patrons were loud. Our last night a function started at 1500 and ended 0100 the next morning, so we did not have good sleep. While this is not under Tobias' control, it still negatively impacted our stay.
  Be aware the shower opening is fairly small – ok for us but not for a larger person.

  The place was in a great location from both old town and main train station. Was a large size room and kitchen with all amenities. Good value for your dollar.
  
  What could be improved: I with there had been a chair or 2 and not small unusable stool for a guy 195cm. The TV programing could also be better. These are small things, was a great place to stay.

  I like the location – almost in the city center. Inside the apartment, everything is as on the photos.
  
  The beds were made for us which is great, we also had 2 towels for each person (there were 3 of us).
  
  What could be improved: We had 3 people, so 2 slept on the bed and 1 on the sofa, but the sofa was very uncomfortable – the mattress was on the floor and a part of it was from the sofa so it was firm and the part was softer. It was hard to sleep on it.
  
  Also I had instructions sent to me regarding the password to the locker, but it did not fit. In case of any problems I also had instructions – to call to 2 different numbers, both did not pick up. So I just found the number on the pager of the apartment and only it worked and what is interesting I was provided the wrong password.

  The location was good – convenient for reaching the centre by foot. The space was tidy and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The space is very small for a family, but it was erally great.
  
  What could be improved: There were some small items that could be improved with a little attention to detail e.g., the toilet roll holder needs fixing and the fan in the bathroom is not working. But mostly, there was very little in the way of spare surface for anything (luggage, food, etc.). The kitchen is very small so cooking is not that feasible, and the fridge is in the living area due to lack of space. Perhaps some extra shelving or a pantry could be added?
  We got several instruction emails repeating the same rules – just one would be enough.
