I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Karcherallee 41 – it’s this quiet residential street in Blasewitz that honestly feels more like where locals live than where tourists usually end up. But that’s exactly what makes Apartment an der Jungen Garde so refreshing. It’s tucked away in the souterrain (basically the garden level for those not familiar with German building layouts), and the moment you step inside, you realize you’ve found something special. The space has this authentic Dresden character that most hotels try to fake – I mean, you’re literally staying in a neighborhood where people walk their dogs and chat with neighbors, not in some sterile hotel district.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious, and whoever designed it actually thought about how real people travel. There’s proper counter space in the kitchen (rare, honestly), and the living area doesn’t feel cramped even when you’ve got suitcases everywhere. What really got me though was how quiet it is at night – Blasewitz isn’t exactly party central anyway, but being set back from the main road means you’re not dealing with tram noise at 6 AM. The neighborhood has this lovely tree-lined feel, especially in spring and summer when everything’s green and you can hear birds instead of traffic. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Dresden’s city center with a rental car will appreciate.

Here’s the thing about staying in Blasewitz – you’re about a 15-minute tram ride from Dresden’s old town, but you get to experience the city like someone who actually lives here. There’s a solid bakery just a few streets over (the kind where the woman behind the counter remembers your order), and you’re close enough to the Elbe that morning walks along the river become part of your routine. The tram connections are actually really reliable – I never waited more than 8 minutes, even in the evenings. What struck me most was how the owners clearly use this space themselves; everything works properly, the Wi-Fi is fast enough for video calls, and there are those little touches like decent coffee in the kitchen and extra blankets that show someone actually cares. With a 9.5 rating, I expected it to be good, but it’s one of those places that exceeds expectations without trying too hard. If you want Dresden but don’t need to be right in the tourist crush, this feels like staying at a friend’s place – assuming your friend has excellent taste and keeps a very tidy apartment.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Dresden at least two months ahead for major events like the Dresden Music Festival, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near historic attractions.

  Das man einen kostenlosen Schattenparkplatz hat. Das ganze Apartment war sehr gut ausgestattet. Man hatte Platz ohne Ende (wir waren zu dritt). Es gab auch Kaffee Kapseln, Spülmaschinentabs und etwas zu knabbern vom Gastgeber. Wir würden jederzeit wieder kommen. MfG

  "This was the best apartment of our trip. Spacious and modern. Despite being located in the semi-basement of a beautiful mansion, it was warm and cozy inside. There was no dampness or unpleasant odors. We didn’t hear any disturbing noise from the language school above the apartment. If the squeaky sofa bed in one of the bedrooms were replaced with a proper bed, I would give it 11 out of 10."

  Position of the apartment right at the big park with many options of spending time and attractions (Zoo, botanical garden, "little" park train, Volkswagen electric cars production showroom, beer gardens….), close to the public transport with few stops to the city centre, apartment seemed bigger than on photos, very well equipped with big garden available also for guests. Value for money is very high and it´ll be my no. 1 choice when we come back.

  Amazing place near park. The minitrain that runs through the park actually has a stop right across the road from the building. City centre is 10-ish minutes of a car drive away.
  Roomy well equipped apartment. We were able to have a plaesant evening even with our 2 y/o sleeping in the next room. We could comfortably watch a movie with her sleeping in a separate room.

  The owners provided nice and comfortable cot for our baby. She looked very comfortable in it and had no trouble falling asleep.
  There are no pubs or nightclubs nearby (or that we would run across), which sould be taken as a bad thing but was positive for us, since we appreciate the absence of noisy people in the evenings.
  
  Overall this will be the first place we will try to book when we come back to Dresden. It is perfect for us for some light tourism, sightseeing with a small kid.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment is in a basement of a building that is being used as a language school -> Don't expect any views & it can be sort of strange to see people going past the windows during day. Nothing horrible though and most windows have shades/blinders. Also you can hear people walking on the floor on top of you but if you live in a usual apartment building it will be nothing new for you. Our kid could still comfortably sleep even during her afternoon nap.
  
  Quite a lot of traffic even during night on the adejacent street, including vehicles with sirens. But that is price to pay for such an amazing placement otherwise.
