You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from the name – honestly, “TIP! Design-Apartment” sounds like someone got a little too excited with the exclamation point. But this place on Palaisplatz completely won me over, and I mean that. It’s tucked right in Dresden’s Neustadt, which if you don’t know the city, is basically where all the cool stuff happens without the tourist crowds trampling over each other.

The apartment itself is actually gorgeous – 75 square meters that feel way more spacious than you’d think, especially compared to most European city stays where you’re practically sleeping in a closet. The design bit in the name isn’t just marketing fluff either; whoever put this together actually has taste. Clean lines, good lighting (thank god, because so many places get this wrong), and furniture that looks intentional rather than like it was grabbed from a hotel liquidation sale. I spent way too much time just appreciating the kitchen setup – it’s one of those spaces where you could actually cook a real meal if you wanted to, not just heat up instant noodles. The whole place has this calm, uncluttered vibe that makes you want to stick around rather than just crash between sightseeing marathons.

What really sold me though was stepping outside and realizing how perfectly positioned you are. Palaisplatz puts you right in the heart of Neustadt’s scene – you’re walking distance from the Kunsthofpassage (those wild, colorful courtyards that Instagram loves but are actually worth seeing), and honestly, some of the best bars and cafes in Dresden are basically around the corner. I grabbed coffee most mornings at this little place called Café Milchmädchen, maybe a three-minute walk away, and evenings you can hear the gentle buzz of the restaurant scene without it being obnoxious. The tram connections are solid too, so getting over to the old town for all the baroque architecture and tourist essentials is simple – though I found myself wanting to stay in Neustadt more often than not. There’s just something about the energy over here that feels more authentic, you know? Less posed, more lived-in. The only minor thing I’d mention is that it’s on the first floor (European first floor, so one flight up), and while it’s not a big deal, just something to keep in mind if you’re hauling heavy luggage. But honestly, with a 9.6 rating, this place has clearly figured out how to make people happy, and I can see why.

  Die Unterkunft ist sehr modern eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Wir haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt. Die Wohnung liegt sehr Zentral zur Innenstadt. Die Betten sind sehr bequem.

  Trotz sehr spontaner Buchung am Abend war das Appartement bezugsfertig. Die Kommunikation (Bestätigung, Zugangscodes, Infos etc.) lief direkt über die App und Sehr schnell, super freundlich und alles, was man braucht. Parken im öffentlichen Raum direkt an der Wohnung war möglich. Es war immer etwas frei. Ist auch relativ günstig. Die Lage ist sehr zentral – nah an der Elbe, noch näher am ÖPNV und in wenigen Minuten damit auch in der historischen Altstadt.
  Die Ausstattung lässt nichts vermissen und der Einrichtungsstil ist sehr gelungen, dezent aber geschmackvoll. Wer Dresden erleben möchte, hat von hier einen wunderbaren Startpunkt.
