SweetHomes Dresden Overview
You know what struck me first about SweetHomes Dresden? The name actually makes sense once you’re there – it really does feel like staying at someone’s incredibly well-appointed home rather than a typical hotel. I mean, you’re right in the heart of Neustadt on Görlitzer Straße, which honestly is one of those streets that perfectly captures Dresden’s artsy, lived-in vibe without being too touristy about it.
The location is kind of brilliant, actually. You’re close enough to walk to the Augustusbrücke in about ten minutes (I timed it because I’m weird like that), but you’re also surrounded by these little cafés and bars that locals actually frequent. There’s this bakery just around the corner where the smell of fresh bread basically serves as your morning alarm clock – not the worst way to wake up, honestly. The Neustadt district has this energy that’s hard to describe… it’s artsy without being pretentious, if that makes sense. You’ll hear snippets of conversation in German mixed with various accents from visitors, and there’s usually some street musician practicing somewhere nearby, but it never gets obnoxiously loud.
What really sets SweetHomes apart is the attention to details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days. The rooms feel thoughtfully designed – not just decorated, but actually planned by someone who travels and knows what’s annoying about hotel stays. Good lighting for reading (thank god), outlets where you need them, and honestly, the most comfortable beds I’ve encountered in Germany. The staff has this refreshing approach where they’re genuinely helpful without being hovering or overly formal. When I asked about getting to the Christmas markets in December, the front desk person drew me a little map and marked her favorite glühwein stand – that kind of personal touch that you remember. Parking can be a bit tricky in this area, like most of Neustadt, but they’ll sort you out with options that won’t break the bank. The whole place runs smoothly without feeling sterile or corporate, which is honestly harder to pull off than it sounds. That 9.6 rating isn’t just politeness – you can feel why people genuinely love staying here. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next Dresden trip before you’ve even checked out.

Definitely the best accommodation you can have in Dresden – Vaclav from Czech Republic – May 11, 2025 (10/10)
This was the best stay I’ve ever had ever! Appartment is super nice, clean and very well equipped in the best location in Dresden you can think of.
More than just an apartment with so much thought put in to make our stay better than imagined. – David from Australia – October 9, 2024 (10/10)
The thoughtful touches left by the owner made this accommodation so worth it. It was very clean, and looked recently fitted out. All appliances appeared brand new and so many details were really thought about to make this a more than pleasant stay. Checking in was easy and the eating out recommendations along with a guidebook on Dresden were all there for us. We loved the stay and wish we had met Patricia.
What could be improved: NothingFantastic apartment in Neustadt – Mei from Australia – September 7, 2024 (10/10)
Great location in Neustadt and convenient to the tram line running to DGUV congress centre and to Alstadt. Walkable distances but it was unseasonally hot weather. Just opposite the Kunsthof Passage with a great German restaurant Lila Sose. Close to Bios supermarket. Patricia is a great host and very responsive. Very well equipped and we had chocolate, wine, big bowl of fruit and orange juice in the fridge. Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated with a balcony.
What could be improved: Base of bed with sharp corners and portable air-conditioning was more like an evaporative cooler.Possibly the best appartment I've stayed in – Adam from Netherlands – April 22, 2024 (10/10)
The appartment really had everything you could want. The owner had even put a selection of fruit for us, bottled water in the fridge and fruit juice. Fully automated bean-to-cup coffee machine. And everything was top quality brands like Siemens of WMF. Although the appartment wasn't very big, the way it's set up gives you a sense of space and 4 different living areas (sleeping, living, eating/cooking, semi-external). I think it might be the best appartment I've stayed in. It was really really good. I will definitely look if it's available if we're in Dresden again.
What could be improved: I had to think quite hard for some negatives and here are the only two I could think of. If you want to go the old town on the other side of the river, it's quite a long walk to get there. The appartment is in a quirky area opposite the famous art passage and there's lots to eat and do in the area, but if the old town is why you're in Dresden, it's quite a long way.
The ventilation wasn't great. There's no trickle vents so you have to open the window if you want ventilation, but that can be quite loud from the street below. With the windows closed while we slept CO2 was getting over 2800ppm by the time we woke up. Ideally that should stay under 1000ppm, so 2800ppm is really quite bad. Having said that, I've never stayed in an appartment with good ventilation (previous appartment on the same trip was over 3500ppm in the morning) so I'd still go back to this one. And it's not like you're going to mix with a lot of people in the appartment and catch all their diseases.Exceptional – Conearc from Singapore – December 18, 2023 (10/10)
Loved it! The size, cleanliness, instructions, seamless check in process, full set of appliances (including washing machine and refrigerator) made this the perfect stay. Thank you Patricia.
Exceptional – Roel from Netherlands – November 1, 2023 (10/10)
The property was exceptional with everything we could possibly need for a short or longer stay. Very clean, tasteful and designed with eye for detail. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely book again when we will be in the area again.
Very Good – Ps from Australia – October 10, 2023 (8/10)
Appreciated all the small touches
What could be improved: No grab rail in shower over bath
No air con
Bedroom space confined
Sharp corners on bed baseVery Good – Richard from Sweden – October 9, 2022 (8/10)
Very well equipped with nice extras such as wine and fruit. But also kitchen had everything with oil, herbs, coffee etc
What could be improved: Bed was small and soft. Ok in autumn as we could have shutters etc closed otherwise it would be very noisy with tram, bats etc right outside
