But this place on Lößnitzstraße actually surprised me in the best way. You know that feeling when you stumble into someone’s thoughtfully put-together home rather than a sterile hotel room? That’s exactly what this is.

The location is what really sold me, though. Neustadt is where Dresden actually lives and breathes – none of that tourist trap energy you get closer to the Frauenkirche (though don’t get me wrong, you can still walk there in about fifteen minutes when you want your dose of postcard Dresden). Lößnitzstraße sits in this sweet spot where you’re surrounded by local cafés and those little shops that sell things you didn’t know you needed, but you’re not dealing with the chaos of the main drags. I mean, there’s this bakery literally around the corner that does these incredible Streuselkuchen – honestly, I probably gained five pounds just from walking past it every morning. The street itself is pretty quiet, especially in the evenings, which was perfect since I’m one of those people who can’t sleep through city noise.

What I really appreciated was how the apartment felt… lived-in, I guess? Not in a worn-down way, but like someone actually cared about making it comfortable. The kitchen had proper coffee (thank god), and there were these little touches – decent lighting for reading, extra blankets that were actually soft, that sort of thing. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward lobby dance you sometimes get with apartment rentals. Parking was trickier – well, it’s Neustadt, so that’s kind of expected – but there are spots if you’re patient, and honestly, you probably won’t need your car much once you’re settled. The whole Neustadt area is super walkable, and if you want to venture further out, the tram connections are solid. I actually ended up loving the evening walks along the Elbe, which is just a few minutes downhill from the apartment. There’s something about Dresden at dusk, especially when the light hits the water just right, that makes you understand why people write poetry about this city. The 8.5 rating makes complete sense to me – it’s not trying to be fancy, but it absolutely nails the things that matter when you’re actually living somewhere for a few days rather than just sleeping there between tourist activities.

  The apartment is super cozy and clean.
  
  What could be improved: It was awkward to shower – the shower is in the bath and the shower head is low and in the middle and hard to contain the water from not going everywhere. Also, we thought we would opt for baths but couldn’t find the plug.

  The location is within Neustradt, which is convenient for all types of cuisines (5min walks!), bars and local supermarkets. It's nestled within residential areas, being comfortably quiet in the nights although ambulances are frequent around that area. The nearest tram station is approx. 5 mins walk away, with a ticket machine available, this makes travel to other parts of dresden quick and easy too. The train station is about 15 mins away, down a straight road.

  What could be improved: The place was a little bit too small for our 5 people group. 2 people had to sleep on the sofa bed in entrance/kitchen/main tv room. Had trouble with kitchen appliences: there are two seperate stoves, but could use only 1 at a time; microwave is barelly working; dishwasher is'nt working at all.

  Great flat right just in the middle of everything (of Dresdner Neustadt). Direct entrance from the street. Very easy and free parking. Shops, bars, trams, trains, many children playgrounds – everything just around the corner. Great and helpfull owner of the flat. Thanks Thomas!!!

  Beautifully furnished, spacious apartment, nice host, good connection to the center, right next to Dresden-Neustadt station. We highly recommend.
  Small note: the apartment is not in the entrance number 8, but slightly next to it by the stairs.

  The apartment is located in a well connected area. I liked the comfortable beds, the fancy bathroom with bathtub, and the nice pictures of Dresden. Also everything was very clean and the host was very friendly.
  
  What could be improved: The high table and high chairs were not my thing. The dishwasher did not work. The apartment had no conventional oven, although it had a microwave oven.
