Pension Luft Overview

You know what surprised me most about Pension Luft? How quiet it actually is, despite being right on Kesselsdorfer Straße. I mean, you’d expect some traffic noise being on a main road like that, but honestly – the rooms are well-insulated and the back side faces residential streets where it’s properly peaceful. The whole place sits in Gompitz, which is this sort of overlooked part of Dresden that locals love because it’s got that village-within-the-city feel, but you can still catch the tram into the old town without much hassle.

The pension itself feels like someone’s well-kept family home that just happens to take in guests – and I actually think that’s exactly what it is. The owners clearly live on-site, which means someone’s always around if you need something, but they’re not hovering either. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward (none of that corporate hotel rigmarole), and they genuinely seemed to care that I found everything okay. The rooms are what you’d call thoughtfully simple – clean lines, decent beds that don’t leave you with a crick in your neck, and windows that actually open properly for fresh air. Nothing fancy, but everything works as it should. I particularly liked that they’d put a proper reading chair in the corner instead of just cramming in another piece of furniture for the sake of it.

What really sold me on the place, though, was the breakfast setup. They do this continental spread that changes slightly each day – not revolutionary, but you can tell they’re paying attention to details like having actual butter instead of those weird foil packets, and the coffee’s strong enough to wake you up properly. Plus, there’s decent parking right there, which honestly saved me a ton of stress since Dresden’s city center can be a nightmare for finding spots. The neighborhood’s got this authentic residential vibe where you’ll see people walking their dogs and heading to the local bakery in the morning – it feels like experiencing Dresden as people actually live it, rather than just the tourist version. The tram stop’s maybe a seven-minute walk, and from there you’re looking at about twenty minutes to get to the Frauenkirche and all that. It’s far enough out that you’re not paying city center prices for everything, but close enough that you’re not stuck in the middle of nowhere either. I’d definitely go back – sometimes you just want a place that does the basics really well without any unnecessary fuss.

  • Exceptional – Peter from Hungary – November 3, 2024 (10/10)

Nice place to stax at at the outscirt of Dresden with parking possibility and tram connection to reach the city center easyly and comfortably.. There is a nice restaurant next to it with good food at good price.

  • A very good alternative in Dresden – Bjørn from Bulgaria – July 22, 2024 (9/10)

A very good alternative in Dresden; outside the city centre but very close to the tram stop. 20 minutes with tram to centre.
Large room, wifi OK, everything OK for a nice stay.

  • Nice pension – Dorothée from France – July 7, 2024 (8/10)

We had a nice night at the Pension ! We liked how clean the room was, everything was perfectly arranged. The parking was very easily accessible and safe. Furthermore, the prices from the mini bar were very honest and affordable. The coffee from the machine was also affordable and tasty. Moreover, the sheets and towels were soft.

What could be improved: It was sunday morning and the people working at the restaurant were super loud. We could hear everything and got waken up pretty early.

Also the tram stop wasn’t working and we didn’t got any previous informations about it. We then couldn’t take public transports to go easily to the center and had to go by car. We chose this appartement because it was well connected to the city centre that we thought we could have access in 20’ so it was a pity.

  • Very Good – Xin from China – March 29, 2024 (8/10)

Convenient location, very nice and helpful staff, free parking.Everything is good

  • Exceptional – Nagy from Hungary – October 8, 2023 (10/10)

Close to tram station, nice and cozy room

What could be improved: Shops are a bit far

  • Excellent value accommodation with everything you need east access to transport and city. – Anita from Australia – September 25, 2023 (9/10)

Large room with everything you need including a fridge and minibar with almost supermarket prices, very reasonable. Coffee machine for 1E excellent value and delicious coffee and hot choc. Very quiet at night despite near road able to sleep window open as not much traffic after 10pm. Special mention to Ute she is very friendly and helpful and I felt very safe and cared for during my solo stay.

What could be improved: It’s a little far from centre though easy tram7 to centre and Hauptbahnhof. Easy to roll luggage from station and hop on Tram7 and the stop is right near the accommodation only 600m walk. Also safe travelling at night though I would ensure to get on tram7 closest to city rather than transferring later.

  • Exceptional – Andrius from Lithuania – July 10, 2023 (10/10)

    Great place to stay

  • Very Good – Igor from Slovenia – September 1, 2022 (8/10)

The location is close to the tram station, which provides convenient transport to Dresden city centre. The room is very nicely furnished and functional. The bathroom was nice. The location is easily accessible from the highway.

What could be improved: The room was facing busy local road, thus open window was not an option.

  • excellent! – Alessandro from Italy – August 15, 2022 (9/10)

    new facility, clean and nice!

What could be improved: there is no place around for breakfast
