You’re literally on An der Frauenkirche street, which means when you wake up and stumble to the window, that gorgeous baroque dome is right there staring back at you. I mean, the Frauenkirche is maybe 200 meters away – close enough that you can hear the church bells (which, fair warning, start pretty early on Sundays).

The studio itself is… well, it’s exactly what it says on the tin. It’s not trying to be fancy – this is a 3-star place that knows what it is. The space feels lived-in rather than hotel-sterile, which I actually prefer when I’m staying somewhere for more than just a night or two. The kitchen setup is basic but functional if you want to grab groceries from the Rewe on Wilsdruffer Straße instead of eating out every meal. What really gets me is how quiet it stays despite being smack in the Altstadt – you’d think with all the tourists wandering around Neumarkt and the trams rumbling down Augustusstraße it would be noisy, but the building seems to block most of it out. The only real downside is parking, honestly. You’re in the old city center, so forget about pulling up right outside. There’s the Altmarkt-Galerie garage about a 10-minute walk away, but it’s not cheap.

Here’s the thing though – staying here puts you in the absolute sweet spot for exploring Dresden properly. You can walk to Semperoper in maybe 8 minutes, the Royal Palace is practically next door, and if you head down toward the Elbe, you’ll hit all those Instagram-worthy views of the old town from the Brühl’s Terrace. Plus, being right in the heart of things means you can duck back to the room easily if you need a break from all the sightseeing (which, let’s be real, Dresden can be a lot to take in). The 8.4 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but it delivers exactly what most people actually need: a clean, comfortable base with an unbeatable location and that view that’ll make your friends back home properly jealous of your morning coffee situation.

  What could be improved: Be aware that the church bells ring every 15 minutes ALSO during night, so you will not get too much sleep. We changed to another hotel because of this the next night even though we had already booked one more night here.
  Also the WiFi is terrible and the TV has big issues connecting to anything. We also found old crackers on top of the cupboard in the kitchen.

  What could be improved: Durch die zentrale Lage ist die Nachtruhe leider nur sehr kurz. Bis 23 Uhr sind die Restaurants vor der Tür geöffnet und ein erheblicher Pegel an Lautstärke ist damit verbunden. Diese Restaurants werden dann morgens ab 7 Uhr wieder beliefert. Schlafen mit geöffnetem Fenster ist nicht möglich.
