Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to NORA Stays on Bergstraße, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like a pretty standard building in Plauen. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come in unassuming packages, and this place absolutely delivered on that front.

The location is actually brilliant if you know Dresden at all. You’re technically in Plauen, which might sound far from the action, but it’s maybe a 10-minute tram ride to the Hauptbahnhof and maybe 15 to the Altstadt – honestly perfect if you want to avoid the tourist crowds but still have easy access to everything. The neighborhood has this authentic, lived-in feel that I really appreciated. There’s a decent bakery just around the corner (grab their pretzels in the morning, trust me), and you’ll hear actual German conversations instead of tour groups chattering away. The tram stop is literally a two-minute walk, and the 11 line runs frequently enough that you won’t be checking schedules obsessively.

What really got me about this place was the attention to small details that actually matter when you’re traveling. The rooms – well, they’re modern without being sterile, and the beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious, and there’s actually decent water pressure, which you’d be amazed how often that’s an issue in European hotels. Check-in was smooth (they were ready for me even though I arrived earlier than planned), and the staff seemed to actually care about making sure I had what I needed. The whole building is pretty quiet too – I mean, you’ll hear the occasional tram, but it’s more of a gentle rumble that becomes white noise after the first night.

I stayed during a busy festival weekend in September, and while the city center was absolutely packed, this little corner of Dresden felt refreshingly calm. You can walk to Großer Garten in about 20 minutes if you want some green space, or head the other direction toward the Elbe – the river path is lovely for morning runs, by the way. Parking was straightforward, which is honestly a relief in German cities. The whole experience just felt… easy, I guess? Like someone had thought through what travelers actually need instead of what looks good in photos. That 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it delivers exactly what it promises and then some.

  Schönes großes Apartment. Alles neu renoviert bzw möbliert. 3 separate Schlafzimmer mit Doppelbetten eignen sich super auch für eine Gruppe Freunde. Extra Toilette und Toilette im Bad macht das ganze unkompliziert.
  Minimale Abwertung:
  Dachwohnung, heißt es war innen sehr heiß bei den Rekordtemperaturen von 36°C draußen. Es gibt für jedes Zimmer Ventilatoren, die sind aber laut und kühlen natürlich auch nicht. Also nicht die beste Wahl im Sommer.
  Das Sofa ist unbequem und für 6 Gäste zu klein.
  Wer das Sofa nicht braucht und nicht im Hochsommer kommt, findet hier ein absoluten und super günstigen Geheimtipp! Sehr ruhig gelegen aber sehr nah zur Straßenbahn.

  Brilliant location and super well fitted out, clean and very comfortable. Had a problem with the plumbing at the host fixed it immediately.

  Super duży apartament na poddaszu małej kamienicy, piẹknie urządzony ze wszystkimi udogodnieniami oraz dużym salonem.
  Niedaleko dworca głównego, do centrum około 30 min. na nogach ale to nie przeszkadza, możliwość zaparkowania samochodu przed budunkiem i oczywiście co było dla nas ważne to akceptują zwierzaki.
  Wygodne duże łóżka.
