You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first saw “Neue Wohnung im Zentrum” listed – honestly, the name’s pretty straightforward (it literally just means “new apartment in the center”), but sometimes the simple places surprise you the most. This little 3-star spot on Wallstraße turned out to be one of those gems that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t found yet.

The location is actually incredible if you know Dresden at all. Wallstraße sits right in the heart of Altstadt, which means you’re basically living among all those baroque buildings that somehow survived the war or got painstakingly rebuilt. I mean, you can walk to the Frauenkirche in about five minutes – not that tourist shuffle either, just a normal stroll past those narrow cobblestone streets where locals grab their morning coffee. The Semperoper is practically next door, and honestly, being able to stumble back to your room after a late show instead of hunting for taxis or figuring out the tram system… that’s worth something. What really got me though was how quiet it stays at night despite being so central. You’d think with all the restaurants and bars around (there’s this fantastic little wine bar called Weinkontor just around the corner that locals love), it would be noisy, but the building’s surprisingly well-insulated.

The apartment itself feels genuinely homey – not that sterile hotel chain vibe where everything’s beige and bolted down. Whoever set this place up actually lives in Dresden, I think, because there are those little touches that only make sense if you understand the city. Good blackout curtains for those bright summer mornings when the sun hits the Elbe just right, a proper coffee setup (not just those terrible pod machines), and they actually provide decent umbrellas because, well, Dresden weather can be moody. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not fancy, but everything works exactly like it should. Check-in was smooth, parking’s available if you need it (though honestly, you won’t want to drive much once you’re in Altstadt), and the whole experience just feels… uncomplicated. Sometimes that’s exactly what you want, especially if you’re planning to spend your days wandering the Zwinger or taking day trips along the Elbe Valley.

  Die Ferienwohnung liegt sehr zentral in der Altstadt von Dresden. Die Sehenswürdigkeiten sind alle fußläufig zu erreichen. Sie ist sehr sauber und die Betten sind bequem. Wir können diese Wohnung sehr empfehlen für einen Besuch in Dresden.

  Everything is top quality! This includes 1) location – super central and the supermarket is just around the corner, 2) apartment – cosy, clean and homey, 3) host – Anastasia’s very responsive and very kind to make sure you have a nice stay. Overall, I wish I could stay longer in Dresden!

  The apartment was nice and the location was really good. But it couldn’t have been better if I hadn’t gotten locked outside of the apartment because of a failure of lock and had received immediate support from the owner.
  
  What could be improved: The lock didn’t work on my second night, I got locked outside of the apartment without my things and since the owner did not respond to any of my calls or messages (I spent 2 hours trying to contacting them) I had to book another hotel near by to spend the night (I was traveling alone and with low battery on the phone). But at least on the next day the owner apologized and provided a key. If you’re thinking about booking just make sure to confirm if the lock has been replaced and be aware that support might not be available 24/7.

  Bus/Train station, super market and cafe are just down stairs. Big shopping mall is just opposite. Owner is considerate and kind.
