You know what? Max’s Hinterhaus is one of those places that surprises you in the best way possible. I mean, when you first walk up to Rudolfstraße 6, it doesn’t look like much from the outside – just another building tucked into Dresden’s Neustadt district. But honestly, that’s part of its charm. The whole area has this lived-in, artsy vibe that feels authentically German rather than touristy, and Max’s fits right into that scene.

The thing about staying here is that you’re actually living like a local for a few days. Neustadt isn’t where most tourists end up (they’re all across the river gawking at the Frauenkirche), but it’s where Dresden really comes alive after dark. I’m talking about proper neighborhood bars, late-night döner spots, and that amazing breakfast café just two blocks down that I can never remember the name of but serves the best Brötchen in the city. The hotel itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place – the rooms are clean and comfortable without being fancy, and the staff actually seems to care about whether you’re enjoying Dresden rather than just processing your checkout.

What really sold me on this place was the complete lack of pretension. It’s a solid 3-star that knows exactly what it is and does it well. The beds are actually comfortable (not always a given in European hotels, let’s be honest), the Wi-Fi works throughout the building, and – this might sound weird but it matters – the water pressure in the shower is fantastic. Plus, you’re a quick tram ride to the historic center when you want to do the tourist thing, but you can also just wander around Neustadt discovering little galleries and beer gardens that most visitors never find. The neighborhood gets a bit lively on weekend nights, so if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs, but honestly the energy is part of what makes staying here fun. That 8.1 rating makes perfect sense to me – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but for travelers who want to experience Dresden beyond the postcard version, Max’s Hinterhaus delivers exactly what you didn’t know you were looking for.

  Gemütliche kleine Ferienwohnung in idealer und ruhiger Lage. Alles war überaus sauber und in gutem Zustand. Allerdings haben wir einen kleinen Ofen vermisst, aber für ein paar Tage konnte wir uns gut darauf einstellen und ein Toaster zum Brötchen aufbacken ist auf jeden Fall vorhanden.
  Die Parkplatzsituation vor der Tür war absolut problemlos. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt und würden das Häuschen jederzeit wieder buchen!

  Были с подругой с 01.04 по 05.04 . Очень хорошее место расположения. Для двоих на 4 дня очень комфортно, тихое место Чисто уютно. Все рядом: остановка трамвая – три остановки и Цвингер, вокзал Нового города, остановка Flixbus, магазины. Рекомендую.

  It was a good old scam done to tourists.

  the house was not cleaned. also the towels were very old and smelled musty.
