Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Dresden ThirtySix on Altenberger Straße, I wasn’t expecting much. The Blasewitz neighborhood is lovely, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not where you’d typically hunt for hotels. Most people stick to the Altstadt when they visit Dresden. But that’s actually what makes this place special – you’re in a proper residential area where actual Dresdeners live, just a quick tram ride from all the tourist stuff.

The building itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciated. It’s not trying too hard, you know? Clean lines, lots of natural light, and the kind of attention to detail that makes you think someone actually cares about this place. The rooms are what I’d call “thoughtfully designed” – everything has a purpose, nothing feels like filler. The beds are seriously comfortable (and I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathrooms have those rainfall showerheads that actually work properly. Small thing, but the water pressure was excellent, which honestly can make or break a stay for me. What really won me over was the location’s practicality. You’re literally a five-minute walk to the Blaues Wunder bridge – that’s the famous blue steel bridge that’s become sort of an icon of Dresden. From there, you can walk along the Elbe riverfront or catch the historic paddle steamer if that’s your thing. The 6 tram line runs right down Altenberger Straße and gets you to the city center in maybe fifteen minutes. I mean, you could walk it too if you’re feeling ambitious – it’s only about 3 kilometers through some genuinely beautiful neighborhoods.

Here’s what I loved most: this area goes quiet at night. Like, properly quiet. No drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM, no constant traffic noise. Just… peaceful. During the day, there are little cafés and local shops within walking distance, and you get this sense of what Dresden actually feels like as a place where people live, not just visit. The staff seemed to genuinely know the area too – they gave me directions to a fantastic little bakery on Schillerplatz that I never would have found otherwise. Parking was straightforward (there’s a garage nearby), and check-in was refreshingly efficient without being impersonal. The only minor thing I’d mention is that if you’re the type who needs to be right in the thick of tourist central, this might feel a bit removed. But honestly? That’s exactly why I’d stay here again. You get the best of both worlds – easy access to all the Frauenkirche and Zwinger action when you want it, but you come “home” to somewhere that feels real and relaxed. For a 4-star place with a 9.5 rating, it actually lives up to the hype, which is rarer than it should be.

  Die Unterkunft war sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Alles vorhanden, was man so braucht. Sogar im Bad standen Kosmetik und Hygieneartikel zu Verfügung. Im Kühlschrank war ein ein Willkommens-Sekt und Wasser kalt gestellt. Es gab kleine Marmeladen, Tee und Honig. Man hat sich einfach willkommen gefühlt 🙂

  Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen.
  Die Wohnung befand sich auf 2 Ebenen. Daher haben wir sehr gut im Untergeschoss geschlafen. Angenehme Temperaturen mit viel Licht und Rolladen.
  Auch die angrenzende Trasse hat uns auch sehr gut gefallen. Gut für erholsame Zeit
  Und den Rest der Wohnung In einem sehr guten Zustand und liebevoll eingerichtet .
