Landhotel Dresden Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Landhotel Dresden on Fritz-Meinhardt-Straße, I wasn’t expecting much. Prohlis isn’t exactly Dresden’s postcard district, you know? It’s more of a residential area where actual Dresdeners live, which honestly turned out to be one of the best things about staying here. You’re not fighting tourists for a decent coffee in the morning, and there’s something refreshing about waking up in a neighborhood that feels real.
The hotel itself has that unpretentious German efficiency thing going for it – clean, straightforward, no nonsense. My room was honestly bigger than I expected for a 3-star place, with one of those sturdy European beds that doesn’t creak when you move around (small blessing, but you know how annoying that can be). The bathroom was recently updated, which you can tell because the tiles actually match and the shower has decent water pressure. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – being tucked away from the main tourist drag means you’re not dealing with drunk backpackers stumbling around the hallways at 2 AM.
Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really tell you: yeah, you’re about 20 minutes from Dresden’s Old Town by tram, but that S-Bahn connection is actually pretty solid. The Prohlis station is maybe a 7-minute walk, and once you figure out the system, it’s easier than dealing with parking in the city center anyway. Plus, there’s a decent bakery right around the corner – I mean, it’s Germany, so of course there is – and the staff there started recognizing me after day two, which felt oddly nice. The hotel breakfast is… well, it’s fine. Standard German hotel spread with those little packets of jam and decent coffee, but honestly, I’d skip it and hit up that bakery instead. Way better pretzels, and the woman behind the counter makes this killer apfelstrudel that’s still warm at 8 AM. The hotel staff was genuinely helpful too – not in that over-the-top concierge way, but more like they actually wanted to solve problems. When I couldn’t figure out which tram to take to get to the Neustadt district, the guy at reception didn’t just hand me a map; he walked me through the whole route and even mentioned which car to get on so I’d be closest to the exit at my stop. That’s the kind of local knowledge you can’t google, you know?

What could be improved: Fliegengitter wären wünschenswertNice, well located hotel with convenient access and parking. – Nigel from Czech Republic – July 22, 2024 (8/10)
My double room was very nice and it was quiet without any bugs, so I was able to open the window all night…..Also, all the van drivers must have been very considerate as they all left early in the morning very quietly… Nice outside terrace for dinner and breakfast, good food and although I arrived relatively late I could still eat dinner..the beer was excellent.
What could be improved: Travelling alone I was offered a Single room, however, I couldn't sleep in that room as it smelt of body odour and maybe cigarettes, so I had to change it. The receptionist told me it was their last single room and that I would have to take a Double room..I said Ok , that's fine, but was then asked to pay an additional 30 Euros…It seems the hotel is a favorite of the local van drivers and the car park was full of small vans with Company logos on them….Sehr zu empfehlen für Städte Trips mit abendlicher Ruhe. – Simon from Germany – July 17, 2024 (9/10)
Die Unterkunft ist schön ruhig gelegen, weg von dem Großstadt Stress. Das Frühstück war lecker und ein gut bestücktes Buffet.

Great option for visiting Dresden – Maureen from United States – December 6, 2023 (8/10)
The breakfast was fantastic. The location was good. It is outside of the city (30-45 min commute by public transit) but the connections are very good and close to use. Nice to not have to drive into the city with our car. The staff was fantastic. VERY helpful and friendly. Free on site parking. There is also a restaurant on-site that was very much appreciated upon arrival.
What could be improved: The room was smaller than what I thought I had booked. The bed being against the wall was challenging for getting up at night. Only one pillow per person was provided and very airy (personal preference is to have two pillows and a bit firmer). The hairdryer was broken and there was no liquid soap in the shower. Once I mentioned these issues to the reception they took care of it straight away and apologized.Exceptional – Michaela from Germany – July 31, 2023 (10/10)

Good breakfast, quiet location.
What could be improved: The "Queen" bed was small, every movement was known.
