Aparthotel Münzgasse An der Frauenkirche Overview
You know that moment when you round a corner in Dresden’s old town and the Frauenkirche just hits you? Well, that’s basically the daily view from Aparthotel Münzgasse An der Frauenkirche – and honestly, it never gets old. I mean, the name pretty much gives it away, but staying right on Münzgasse puts you smack in the heart of things without that tourist-trap feeling you get closer to the main squares.
The aparthotel itself is refreshingly straightforward – three stars that actually feel earned rather than inflated. The rooms have that practical German efficiency thing going on, with kitchenettes that are actually useful (not just a mini-fridge and a prayer). I appreciated being able to grab groceries from the little shops along Hauptstraße and actually cook something decent instead of eating schnitzel every night. The whole setup works especially well if you’re staying more than a couple nights – which you should, because Dresden’s one of those cities that rewards slower exploration. The 8.4 rating makes sense when you experience it; it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just… works. Hot water, reliable wifi, beds that don’t creak when you move – sometimes that’s all you need.
What really sold me on this place is how it sits in the neighborhood. Münzgasse feels residential enough that you’re not constantly dodging tour groups, but you can walk to Neumarkt in literally three minutes. The morning light hitting the Frauenkirche’s dome – especially if you snag a room facing that direction – is pretty spectacular with your coffee. And here’s something the booking sites don’t mention: you’re perfectly positioned for Dresden’s weird but wonderful nightlife. The Neustadt district is just across the Augustus Bridge, maybe a fifteen-minute walk, where things get properly local after 10 PM. Coming back late, the old town transforms into something almost mysterious, all those baroque facades lit up and mostly empty. The apartment-style setup means you don’t have to worry about hotel lobby judgments when you stumble in at 2 AM either. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – the old town streets weren’t exactly designed for cars – but there’s a garage nearby on An der Frauenkirche street that locals use. Just don’t expect it to be cheap; nothing in the Altstadt really is.

Reviews of Aparthotel Münzgasse An der Frauenkirche
Wonderful – Katya from Israel – August 5, 2025 (9/10)
Wonderful location, clean.
What could be improved: It was very noisy on the courtyard side where the bedroom windows are — we heard trucks and garbage collection even with the windows closed, day and night. It was hard to sleep. The elevator wasn’t working, but that was okay.Recommend – Koleva from Denmark – July 23, 2025 (8/10)

Amazing location. You cannot find closer to the center – it is center. View from the window is astonishing! Beds are comfortable, family room is huge, everything is working.
What could be improved: No parking, need to leave the car at the expensive parking 5 mins walk. No air-conditioner, hard to stay at +35. At 5 am becomes too noisy: cars which bring goods for restaurants, garbage cars every day.We left leaving behind a previous item. The staff have been brilliant with us. – Glenda from New Zealand – June 27, 2025 (9/10)

Perfect location, facing the Frauenkirsche.
What could be improved: A bit noise at night due to the restaurants. The entrance was a bit sketchy, in an alley behind the building.Simpl and Convenient – Shirley from Australia – June 20, 2025 (9/10)
Conveniently located. Affordable & no fuss.
A convenient choise. – Kathryn from United States – June 3, 2025 (9/10)
Incredibly convenient to downtown – right in the middle of it!
What could be improved: The cost of the parking was really expensive and not that close, especially since we arrived during a driving rain. Also, it seemed great that there was a clothes washer, but it didn't work right and left us with a load of sopping wet clothes we had to wring out by hand and drape all around the place – and, of course, it was all still wet when we left the next day….Wonderful – Sudhanshu from Germany – May 30, 2025 (9/10)
Location is absolutely amazing, very close to the Frauenkirche. Cafes, restaurants are on the walking distance.
