Kim Hotel Dresden Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Kim Hotel Dresden in Gompitz, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s not right in the thick of Dresden’s old town like some places, but you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its biggest selling points. The location on Gompitzer Höhe is quiet – I mean really quiet – which was perfect after spending days wandering around the touristy bits of the city center.
The hotel itself has this sort of understated elegance that I really appreciated. It’s a solid 4-star property, and honestly, it delivers on that promise without trying too hard. The rooms are spacious (way more so than what you’d get for the same price closer to the Frauenkirche), and the beds are actually comfortable – not just hotel-marketing comfortable, but the kind where you don’t wake up with a crick in your neck. I stayed on the third floor and had this nice view over the surrounding residential area, which gave me a glimpse of how locals actually live rather than just the postcard stuff. The bathroom was modern and well-designed, though I will say the shower pressure could’ve been a bit stronger – but that’s me being picky.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about helping you figure out Dresden. The woman at reception (I think her name was Petra?) gave me this detailed explanation about taking the S-Bahn into the city center – apparently there’s a station about a 10-minute walk away that gets you to the main train station in no time. She also mentioned this local bakery just down the street that opens early, and man, their pretzels were incredible. The neighborhood itself is pretty residential and peaceful, with tree-lined streets and that distinctly German suburban feel. You’ve got easy access to the A17 if you’re driving, but honestly, the public transport connections work just fine. I noticed the hotel gets busy with business travelers during the week (there’s some kind of industrial area nearby), but weekends are much quieter. The breakfast was solid – nothing fancy, but good bread, proper coffee, and local honey that actually tasted like something. Parking was free and easy, which is huge if you’ve dealt with Dresden’s city center parking situation. The whole place just felt… well, comfortable and real, if that makes sense. Not trying to be something it’s not, just doing the basics really well at a price that won’t make your wallet cry.

Very nice place! – Roman from Poland – April 21, 2025 (9/10)
Nice personel. Big rooms with many windows. Great breakfasts. Good location. Only 15 min by car to city center
What could be improved: A bit too close to the tram. It was a bit too noisy, but still acceptable.Super location on way to Czech, good price – Tom from Netherlands – April 14, 2025 (9/10)
The room was big, the bathroom had a lot of space. Great shower. Nice place in general. Nice restaurant with good beers and German food. On the other side of the road a good shopping centre. Free parking in the garage of the hotel across the road. It's just of the highway but far enough to not be really bothered by the noise.
What could be improved: The blinds covered only half of the windows, and the curtains did not block any sunlight. We woke up at 07:00 by the brutal sun… and it was april ))Wonderful – Viktorija from Latvia – December 22, 2024 (9/10)
Good acccommodations and facilities, very comfy beds, friendly staff, very clean, good windows and sound insulation, perfect for 1 night stay, good location if you're travelling bu car.

What could be improved: The breakfast could have been better. Our stay for one night – Indre from Lithuania – January 6, 2024 (9/10)
the location of the hotel is close to the main road. clean, tidy hotel, comfortable beds. large parking lot, spacious room. I really liked that there is a restaurant and a bakery nearby. Breakfast was ok.
What could be improved: the hotel has a rather confusing architecture (take the elevator to the first floor, then go to the next elevator and go to the second floor). As hotel is next to the tram tracks, you could definitely hear it.Very comfortable, relaxing stay. Good food. I will come again. – Daniel from Sweden – September 25, 2023 (9/10)
Comfortable and very clean rooms, nice restaurant and very good breakfast.
