It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street in Neustadt – Förstereistraße – which honestly feels like stepping into proper Dresden life rather than tourist central. I mean, you’re still close to everything that matters, but there’s something refreshing about staying where locals actually live instead of being stuck in some sterile hotel district.

The apartment itself is on the first floor (well, what Germans call the first floor – you Americans would say second), and I’ll be honest, the 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re inside. It’s one of those places where someone clearly thought about what travelers actually need, not just what looks good in photos. The kitchen had proper coffee – not those terrible pod machines – and enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. What really got me was the attention to small details… like, there were actual wine glasses, not just those plastic things you usually find in vacation rentals, and the shower had decent water pressure, which, let’s face it, can be hit or miss in older Dresden buildings.

Neustadt is honestly where you want to be anyway. I spent most evenings just wandering down to the Hauptstraße area – maybe a ten-minute walk – where all the good bars and restaurants are hiding. During the day, you can cut through the parks toward the Elbe, and honestly, the whole Baroque old town across the river looks even more impressive when you’re not staying right in the thick of tourist chaos. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, though I’d recommend asking about that when you book because Dresden’s parking situation can be… well, let’s just say it keeps you on your toes. The building itself is pretty quiet – I was worried about street noise, but Förstereistraße is more of a neighborhood thoroughfare than a major route, so you can actually sleep with the windows open on warm nights and just hear the occasional tram in the distance. Three stars might sound modest, but honestly, when a place nails the fundamentals this well and sits in such a perfect spot for exploring both tourist Dresden and the grittier, more interesting bits of the city, who needs fancy lobby marble?

  オーナーさんがとても良い人で、部屋のセンスも良い。いろいろなことをわかりやすく説明してくれたり、パンフレットや地図も沢山おいてあるので観光の予定をたてやすかった。洗濯機はないが、近くにコインランドリーがあるし、朝早く開いている美味しいパン屋さんもあり、そこの手作りパンは、本当に美味しかったです。

  Die Wohnung befindet sich in einer ruhigen Straße und ist trotzdem super an den Verkehr angebunden – buchstäblich um die Ecke laufen Straßenbahnen. Wenn man fit ist, dann kann man in 30 Minuten bis zur Semperoper schaffen.

  The host was very hospitable and friendly, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The room was well-maintained and fully equipped. The location was also convenient with public transportation and supermarkets just nearby. I especially loved the elegant ceiling decorations that reflect the charm of antique architecture, while interior amenities are all new and modern. Overall, it was a wonderful stay!

  L'appartamento è davvero accogliente, luminoso, si scalda in un attimo, molto curato e pulito. C'era tutto il necessario per cucinare e dei giochi da tavolo che sono stati di piacevole compagnia.
  Il centro è a 20 minuti a piedi, noi abbiamo sempre camminato, ma c'è una fermata della metro proprio sotto casa.
  Hartmut è stato gentilissimo e ci ha fornito utili indicazioni per l'arrivo di sera. Abbiamo trovato qualcosa per la colazione in casa ed è stato molto apprezzato. Lo consiglio senza dubbi!
  
  What could be improved: Hartmut non parla inglese, ma ci siamo capiti lo stesso. Mi è dispiaciuto non poter conversare più facilmente perché sarebbe stato piacevole. Ma questo non è certo un problema.

  Hartmut and Gabriele were wonderful host. Hartmut is really awesome, went above and beyond to make sure our stay is great and wonderful. My parents missed their flight and caused our trip to be slightly delayed. He waited for us almost at midnight to welcome us to their unit. Would definitely stay again. Even gave the kids some awesome toys they day we left.
  
  What could be improved: The property itself is really awesome. The location is in the art district and had many graffitis. This might be a turn off to others if they're not used to it.

  Regenbogen is een charmant appartement dat niet zozeer luxe, maar wel heel comfortabel en praktisch is ingericht. We voelden ons er onmiddellijk thuis, ook door de hartelijke ontvangst en communicatie met de eigenaren. De locatie is geweldig: alles op loopafstand en openbaar vervoer om de hoek. Een zeer levendige buurt en toch een rustig appartement. Geweldig!
  
  What could be improved: De wat laaghangende douche in het bad is misschien niet voor iedereen even handig, maar is verder prima.

• Gute Lage im quirligen Viertel und trotzdem ruhig – Cornelia from Germany – September 26, 2024 (10/10)

  Die FeWo war gut ausgestattet, mit allem was man brauchte – sogar Konfitüren standen auf dem Tisch und selbstgemachte Tees. Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und haben uns in der gemütlichen Wohnung gleich wohlgefühlt.
  Die Betten waren bequem, das Bad gut ausgestattet – Wasserdruck sehr gut !
  Die FeWo liegt in einem interessanten, lebhaften Alternativ-Viertel mit vielen Cafes, Kneipen und Restaurants, trotzdem ist es sehr ruhig und wir haben prima geschlafen!!!
  Die ÖPNV-Anbindung ist sehr gut!!!

  Excellent location, easy walk to train station, accessible to city center via tram. Harmut and Gabriele are terrific hosts, very clear and easy communication, and extremely helpful, kind people. They want you to enjoy the stay and literally there is nothing lacking from this apartment! It is spotlessly clean, everything is quality, and there is nothing we needed that we didn’t find. To rent from such a nice couple was the icing on the cake. Cannot recommend highly enough. There are dozens of restaurants 5 minutes walking. Great energy in this neighborhood! We felt very safe walking, even late at night.
