Gästehaus Loschwitz Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Gästehaus Loschwitz when I first pulled up on Grundstraße – it’s this quiet residential street that honestly feels more like someone’s neighborhood than a tourist zone. But that’s actually what makes this place special. You’re staying in Loschwitz, which is this hillside district that most tourists completely miss, and I mean that in the best way possible.
The guesthouse itself has that understated German efficiency thing going on – nothing flashy, but everything just works. The rooms are clean and comfortable in that no-nonsense way that makes you realize you don’t actually need a chocolate on your pillow to sleep well. What really got me was stepping out in the morning and realizing you’re basically living like a local Dresden resident for a few days. There’s a bakery about two minutes down the street where the woman behind the counter will remember your order by day three, and you can walk to the Elbe riverbank in maybe ten minutes. The area gets this gorgeous morning light that hits the hillside just right – something about being elevated above the city center that makes everything feel more peaceful.
Here’s the thing that’ll matter to you: the location is actually brilliant once you figure it out. Yes, you’re not stumbling distance from the Frauenkirche, but you’re also not dealing with tour groups at 7 AM or paying city center prices for everything. The tram connections are solid – I’d walk down to the Körnerplatz stop and be in the Altstadt in maybe fifteen minutes. Plus, if you’re into that whole romantic Dresden thing, the Loschwitz Bridge (locals call it the “Blue Wonder”) is right there, and honestly, the walk across it at sunset beats any postcard. Parking was never an issue, which anyone who’s driven in German city centers will appreciate. The staff speaks excellent English but seems genuinely happy when you attempt German – that kind of relaxed friendliness you get in neighborhoods rather than tourist districts. The only minor thing is that if you’re the type who needs room service and a concierge, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want to experience Dresden like you actually live there for a while, rather than just checking boxes on a sightseeing list, Gästehaus Loschwitz gets it right.

The room has a kitchenette and dining area enough for 3 people to sit comfortably. The location is nice. it's only 20minutes from Dresden historic centre. If you are planning to visit Bastei, it's very convenient to drive from the guest house. Free parking is great! They have plenty of space on the premises and additional parking near by. I would definitely stay there again when visiting Dresden.
Wonderful – Daina from Denmark – March 18, 2025 (9/10)
The personal in the guest house was very good, friendly, very well speaking English and accomodating our needs as a small children family.
They do though have also staff that is not so friendly but it might be because of the language level in English
What could be improved: Additional fees for parking or dog were not known when making the reservation.Romantic and with a very attentive and kind staff. – Juan from Spain – January 24, 2025 (10/10)

This is a traditional guesthouse located on the main road in the middle of the Loschwitz district, not far from the Blue Wonder Bridge. The furniture is simple, but the beds are very comfortable. Windows provide efficient isolation against any potential noise from the road traffic. Parking places are available at the hotel or nearby. Public transportation is in walking distance, circulating 24/7 (naturally less often in night hours). The center of Dresden can be reached in about 25 minutes. Breakfast was plentiful and very good.
