You know what’s funny about the Villa Haniel Oskar? I almost missed it entirely because I was looking for some grand hotel entrance, but it’s actually this charming apartment-style place tucked away on Leubnitzer Straße that feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed flat than a typical hotel. The address technically says Dresden, but you’re really in Plauen – which honestly worked out perfectly since I needed to be in that area anyway, and the tram connections into Dresden proper are actually pretty decent once you figure out the system.

The whole setup has this lived-in quality that I really appreciated – I mean, the furnishings aren’t trying too hard to be boutique-fancy, but everything’s solid and thoughtfully chosen. The kitchen was probably my favorite part (and I’m saying this as someone who usually just uses hotel microwaves for reheating coffee). It’s actually equipped for real cooking, with decent knives and proper pans, which came in handy since there’s a good little market just a few streets over where you can grab fresh bread and local stuff. The beds are firm but comfortable – not that overly soft hotel nonsense that leaves your back aching. Parking was straightforward too, which is more than I can say for most places I’ve stayed in German cities. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after evening hours, so if you’re someone who needs city buzz right outside your window, this might feel a bit residential for you.

What really sold me on the place was how the owners – or whoever manages it – clearly understand what actual travelers need versus what hotels think we want. There’s proper lighting for reading, enough outlets in sensible places, and the Wi-Fi actually works consistently throughout the space. The bathroom’s nothing fancy, but the water pressure’s solid and it gets properly hot without that weird five-minute warm-up period you get in some older European buildings. I was there during shoulder season, so can’t speak to how it handles the summer tourist rush, but the 8.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that just works without any drama or pleasant surprises that turn unpleasant. If you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring Dresden and just want a reliable, comfortable base that doesn’t feel generic, this hits that sweet spot between personal and professional that’s surprisingly hard to find.

  Ein sehr schönes, altes, renoviertes Haus. Für ein oder zwei Personen war die Wohnung super. Ausse Tisch und Stühle, Wohnung im Souterrain kühl im Sommer.

  Liebevoll und geschmackvoll restaurierte Altbauvilla; das Ambiente passt sehr gut zu einer umfassenden Besichtigung von Dresden. Wir hatten (zu dritt) das Kellerapartment 'Oskar' eine Woche lang. Es war für unsere Bedürfnisse optimal eingerichtet. Sehr schön war, dass es für uns Tisch und Stühle im Garten gab. Trotz zentraler Lage eher ruhig. Der gelegentliche Lärm aus den benachbarten Plattenbauten (hauptsächlich abends am Wochenende) gehört unserer Meinung nach für so eine dicht besiedelte Stadtregion dazu. ÖPNV sehr gut angebunden, Hbf in Fußnähe. Lebensmittelmarkt sehr nah. Wir würden uns gerne wieder mal dort einmieten.

  De ruimte en het karakter van het huis. Met ruime parkeergelegenheid en alle voorzieningen aanwezig is het een fijne uitvalsbasis voor bezoeken van de stad. We hadden het souterrain; lekker koel en ruim.

  Lage topp, besser geht's nicht. Die Veranstaltungsörtlichkeit lag in unmittelbarer Nähe.
  Völlig problemlos die Mitnahme unseres Hundes und durch die Lage der Wohnung bestens hierfür geeignet.

  Wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen! Das Ambiente mit der Villa direkt vor der Hochhausreihe ist wirklich besonders, direkt gegenüber gibt's einen Konsum und die Lage mit 10min fußläufiger Entfernung zum Hbf wirklich gut. Die Souterrainwohnung bietet viel Platz.
  
  What could be improved: Das Wlan war leider quasi nicht vorhanden, das müsste dringend verbessert werden. Wir wurden jeden Morgen durch das Küchenradio geweckt 🥴 Ist im Urlaub auch nicht so mega. In der Küche haben mir ein paar Dinge gefehlt und es war nicht pikobello sauber, aber für den Preis war das in Ordnung.
