You know what surprised me about Ferienwohnung Henniger? It’s tucked away on Bautzner Straße in a way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something locals have been keeping to themselves. I mean, Neustadt gets all the attention for its nightlife and artsy vibe, but this little apartment hotel sits just removed enough from the chaos that you can actually sleep through the night – which, honestly, isn’t always guaranteed in this part of Dresden.

The building itself has that solid East German architecture that’s grown on me over the years, and Henniger has done something clever with the interiors. They’ve kept the high ceilings and original hardwood floors (which creak just enough to remind you you’re in a real building with history), but everything else feels thoughtfully updated. The kitchenettes are actually functional – not those sad hotel attempts with a mini-fridge and a prayer. I’m talking proper counter space and cookware that doesn’t make you question your life choices. The Wi-Fi works reliably too, which matters if you’re trying to work remotely or just need to figure out Dresden’s tram system without wandering around lost.

What I really appreciate is how they’ve nailed the location without shouting about it. Walk five minutes toward the Elbe and you’re at the Goldener Reiter statue, then another few minutes gets you to the Frauenkirche if you’re feeling touristy. But honestly, the better move is heading the other direction into the heart of Neustadt – there’s this whole stretch of bars and restaurants along Rothenburger Straße that feels more authentic than the Old Town scene. The 8.2 rating makes sense when you consider it’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top luxurious. It’s just… solid. Good bones, clean spaces, and that slightly understated German efficiency that means everything works the way it should. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle on this street (welcome to Dresden), but the tram connections are decent, and you’ll probably end up walking everywhere anyway once you realize how compact the city center really is.

  Die Wohnung ist zentral gelegen mit guter Anbindung an den Nahverkehr. Für ein Auto wäre auch ein Tiefgaragenplatz zubuchbar gewesen. Ausstattung war gut, es war allesamt was wir benötigt haben. Da die Wohnung in zweiter Reihe ist, war sie sehr ruhig. In der Nähe sind Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Gastronomie für alles was man braucht. Auch der Kontakt mit dem Vermieter war sehr gut. Kam sehr flexibel zur Schlüsselübergabe. In der Wohnung lag auch eine Liste mit Tipps für Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten.

  Die Wohnung liegt sehr günstig in der Dresdener Neustadt um Dresden. Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind zu Fuß oder mit Straßenbahn und S-Bahn in kurzer Zeit erreichbar. Das Auto, die Fahrräder stehen in der Tiefgarage solange sicher. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung, vor allem der Küche ist sehr gut. Man schläft ruhig, das Wohnzimmer ist gemütlich eingerichtet. Praktisch ist die Nähe zu einen gut sortierten Supermarkt und mehreren Bäckereien. Insgesamt eine gute Wahl um mehrere Tage Dresden und Umgebung zu erkunden.
  
  What could be improved: Den schön mit Büschen (Bild auf Booking.com) eingewachsenen Hinterhofgarten gibt es nicht mehr. Zur Zeit sitzt man ohne Sichtschutz zwischen Abfahrt zur Tiefgarage und zwei Hauseingängen. Das ist sehr schade. Wir hatten uns auf laue Sommerabende auf der Terrasse gefreut. Zum Glück ist das Wohn/Esszimmer auch sehr gemütlich eingerichtet.

• Top-Unterkunft für unsere Städtereise – Christine from Germany – June 2, 2024 (9/10)

  Eine sehr saubere und für unsere Bedürfnisse vollständig ausgestattete Ferienwohnung für 4 Personen in Top-Lage. Da nicht direkt an der Hauptstraße gelegen, sondern durch eine Toreinfahrt erreichbar, sehr ruhig. Supermarkt, Bäckereien ,Restaurants und öffentlicher Nahverkehr in unmittelbarer Nähe. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Besichtigungen in der Stadt und ins Umland. Auch bei Geh-Einschränkungen sehr empfehlenswert. Unbedingt die Tiefgarage buchen bei Anreise mit dem Auto , Parkplätze gibt es ansonsten nicht. Freundliche und hilfsbereite Verwaltung.
  
  What could be improved: Die Kopfkissen. Die Terrasse wir zur Zeit umgebaut, sonst aber ein toller Bonus.

  The location is very convenient – walking distance from the historic center, tram connections in all directions, and it is in a quiet location.
  
  What could be improved: No one was waiting to give us the keys when we arrived at the venue at the pre-arranged time (20:00-21:00) after a long plane and bus ride. No one answered our phone calls or the messages in the "contact host" box in the reservation system. At the end, a smiling young girl appeared and handed us the keys on behalf of the host. Another bad surprise was the lack of more than one roll of toilet paper (for 4 people for five days!), no kitchen paper and no dishwashing detergent, even though it was advertised otherwise in the booking. Well, we left some of everything for the next guests:)

  Die Wohnung befindet sich im Erdgeschoß, was uns wichtig war. Alle Fenster haben Rolläden und innen lichtdurchlässigen Sichtschutz. Außerdem gibt es eine kleine Terrasse. Es ist toll, dass man einen Tiefgaragenplatz mieten kann. Die geräumige und gepflegte Wohnung ist außergewöhnlich gut ausgestattet: die Küche bietet alles, was man braucht, sehr interessante Bücher, Spiele für Kinder, alles Mögliche, was man für einen Haushalt gebrauchen kann: von Regenschirm, Ersatzglühbirnen bis etliche Mehrfachstecker, Einkaufstaschen uvm. Das Bad ist sehr schön. Telefonisch ist der sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Hausverwalter jederzeit zu erreichen. Sehr hilfreich ist ein Info-Blatt bzgl Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Restaurants in Laufnähe, uam. Die Lage war für uns optimal. Man erreicht in wenigen Minuten die Straßenbahn. Zur Fußgängerzone, Elbe oder Altstadt kann man auch hinspazieren. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt.

  Tolles, geräumiges Appartement in Dresdens Neustadt. Man ist mittendrin im Leben und wohnt doch ruhig. Gute Ausstattung, es hat (bis auf ein Radio)nichts gefehlt. Tolles Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis.
