Being in Blasewitz is honestly perfect if you want that local Dresden experience without the tourist chaos. You’re close enough to walk to the Blaues Wunder bridge – that gorgeous blue steel thing that somehow survived the war – and from there it’s an easy stroll along the Elbe or a quick tram ride into the Altstadt when you want to do the palace and cathedral thing. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: the best part is just wandering the neighborhood streets, especially toward Schillerplatz where there’s this cluster of cafés that locals actually use. The tram stop is maybe a three-minute walk, and parking (if you’re driving) isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the center.

Look, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble lobbies or turndown service – but that’s sort of the point. It feels like staying in a friend’s well-organized spare apartment, if your friend happened to be really good at hosting and lived in one of Dresden’s nicest residential areas. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and when the heating got a bit temperamental one evening, someone actually answered the phone and sorted it out within an hour. That 9.3 rating? Yeah, it tracks. This is the kind of place you book when you want to feel like you’re living in Dresden for a few days instead of just passing through it.

  We enjoyed our stay a lot. The apartment was spacious, clean, quiet and in a really good location for us. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. They showed us the apartment in detail and gave us great recommendations on restaurants in the area, even though we did run late for check-in due to traffic. They showed great care for their guests and we even had a little chocolate on our pillows.

  I loved how every little detail was thought through: any little thing you might need (e.g. washing machine pods, cleaning supplies, cooking tools, salt/sugar) is there and available to use for no extra charge.
