F1 – Kunst und Design Dresden Overview
So here’s the thing about F1 – Kunst und Design Dresden – it’s tucked away in Leuben, which honestly most tourists don’t even know exists, and that’s actually part of its charm. I mean, you’re about 20 minutes from all the classic Dresden stuff (Frauenkirche, Zwinger, you know the drill), but you get to stay in this quiet residential area where actual Dresdeners live. The hotel itself is this modern, minimalist place that takes its “art and design” name seriously – think clean lines, pops of color, and local artwork that doesn’t feel like generic hotel decor.
What I really liked was how unpretentious it all felt. The lobby has this relaxed vibe where you might see a few business travelers mixing with families, and the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations. They pointed me toward this little bakery on Pirnaer Landstraße that I never would’ve found otherwise. The rooms are compact but smartly designed – everything has its place, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable for a 3-star spot. You know what’s great? The windows actually open (not always a given in newer hotels), so you can get some fresh air without cranking the AC. Parking was straightforward too, which if you’ve ever driven in Dresden’s Altstadt, you’ll appreciate.
The area comes alive in the mornings with people heading to work and kids walking to school – it’s got this authentic neighborhood energy that you miss when you’re staying right in the tourist zone. Plus, there’s a decent tram connection that gets you into the city center without the hassle of finding parking near the big sights. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it does what it promises well. Honestly, if you want something different from the usual hotel experience and don’t mind being a bit outside the action, this place gets it right. Just don’t expect a concierge or room service – it’s more about clean, comfortable, thoughtfully designed spaces in a part of Dresden that feels real.

Reviews of F1 – Kunst und Design Dresden
I can recommend. – Ihor from Ukraine – April 21, 2025 (9/10)
The owner waited for us at home. A very friendly person. Gave a short briefing on the apartment. The apartment was clean, the bed linen and towels were washed. There was always a parking space near the building. Good location if you have a car. Wi-Fi worked great. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need.
What could be improved: Durch den Duschvorhang war etwas wenig platz in der Dusche.Very Good – Christiane from France – July 20, 2024 (8/10)
Very Good – G from Germany – May 7, 2024 (8/10)
Sehr zentral und super freundlicher Kontakt. Perfekte Lage zwischen der Sächsischen Schweiz und Dredner Innenstadt.
Wir kommen gerne wieder!Fein und gute Reichweite – Sophie from Germany – December 5, 2023 (9/10)
– Daniel from Germany – October 31, 2023 (8/10)
Sehr gute Unterkunft.
What could be improved: Ein zweites Backblech sowie eine Auflaufform wären evtl. noch praktisch. Matratzen etwas durchgelegen im Schlafzimmer.Good location – Mercedes from Hungary – September 7, 2023 (8/10)
The apartment is in an excellent location, easily accessible by public transport and by car. The commumication with the host was smooth, he waited for us personally with the key. We were greeted by cleanliness in the apartment. The kitchen is large, bright and easily ventilated. The living room is pleasant, the internet is of medium quality. The size of the bedroom is adequate, for us the bed was too low and the mattress was not comfortable. The host was very flexible regarding our arrival and departure times, we thank him for that.
What could be improved: The bathroom is extremely narrow, showering was a challenge. The towels did not smell good.
What could be improved: Das Glockenschlagen in der Nacht…Allgemein ein sehr ruhiges Haus, ausgestattet mit allem was man so braucht – Zoltan from Germany – July 1, 2023 (9/10)
Exzellent gelegen, ruhige Lage, Dresden´s Zentrum mit der Tram leicht erreichbar, Badesee nur 1 Km entfernt, was will man mehr
What could be improved: Duschen im stehen schwierigWonderful – Vladimir from Czech Republic – February 13, 2023 (9/10)
A very authentic location with a church and a townhall righ across the street.
The host is really friendly and nice.
The flat is big enough for a family with 2 kids, and it's pretty warm there despite winter time at night it might get colder, so adjust the temperature for night hours in advance 😉. Enough parking spaces around. And windows provide pretty good sound isolation, so it was really quiet at night
What could be improved: A microwave would make a great addition to the kitchen – to prepare meals for little kids especially.
