Daheim in Dresden Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Daheim in Dresden on Weimarische Straße, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in Pieschen. This neighborhood isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, you know? It’s sort of tucked away north of the Elbe, residential and quiet in that distinctly East German way where wide streets are lined with those sturdy pre-war buildings that somehow survived everything history threw at them. But honestly? That turned out to be exactly what made this place special.
The hotel itself feels like someone’s well-loved family home that just happens to take paying guests – which, given the name “Daheim” (literally “at home”), is probably the whole point. The rooms have this comfortable, lived-in quality without being shabby, and you can actually open the windows properly, which I mean… try doing that at most chain hotels these days. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night. Pieschen doesn’t have the tourist crowds stumbling around until 3 AM like you get in Altstadt, so you’ll actually sleep. The breakfast room has these mismatched chairs that somehow work perfectly together, and the coffee – well, it’s proper German coffee, strong enough to wake the dead.
Here’s what nobody tells you about staying in Pieschen: you’re maybe a 15-minute tram ride from all the big Dresden sights, but you get to experience the city like locals actually live it. There’s a proper bakery two blocks down that opens at 6 AM (the smell of fresh pretzels drifts down the street), and the Elbe meadows are right there for morning walks before the day gets started. The S-Bahn connection at Pieschen station gets you to Dresden Hauptbahnhof in about 10 minutes, or you can walk across the Marienbrücke and suddenly you’re looking at the whole Dresden skyline spread out like a postcard. Parking here is actually manageable too – not something you can say about most places in Dresden proper. I stayed here during one of those typical German spring weeks where it’s sunny and pouring rain on the same day, and the staff just casually mentioned which tram connections stay driest (apparently they get asked this a lot). That 9.1 rating makes total sense once you realize this isn’t trying to be fancy – it’s just trying to be genuinely comfortable and useful, and it absolutely nails both.

I had a fantastic experience staying at this apartment in Dresden. The location was absolutely ideal—just a short walk to the historic city center, with easy access to public transportation, shops, and restaurants. Despite being so central, the apartment was quiet and peaceful at night.
The space itself was spotless, modern, and very well-equipped. The bed was comfortable, the Wi-Fi was strong, and I appreciated the small touches like a coffee machine, extra towels, and detailed local information provided by the host.
Speaking of the host—communication was excellent. They were friendly, responsive, and made check-in and check-out incredibly smooth.
I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Dresden, whether for a short city break or a longer stay. It felt like a home away from home!Comfort in style with a cozy and warm decor. – Jessenia from United States – May 26, 2025 (10/10)
The apartment was perfect. Sebastian even left us a beer and bottled water in the fridge. Coffee was also available. Both TVs are large and smart, which made it easy to relax at night with extra blankets.
What could be improved: If I must say, the small shower. 😃All great – Howis from Poland – April 8, 2025 (10/10)
The apartment is absolutely stunning. The little things like photos and guest book made It really welcoming. Bed is extremely comfortable. Very close to the tram stop. All great.

What could be improved: Street parking could be hard to find a spotGood place for short stay. – Jaroslav from Czech Republic – November 23, 2023 (9/10)
Spotless clean apartment. Quiet neighborhood. Good location. Not too far to the center by tram.
What could be improved: No hangers. Not even place or cabinet to hang your clothes. Just three hooks in the hallway. That never happened to me anywhere I stayed at my travels.Overall a lovely apartment and good stay, some extra details would have made it really excellent – Isobelle from Poland – April 16, 2023 (8/10)
Photos of the apartment are really accurate – it has been beautifully renovated and is really pretty. It was very clean, kitchen was well equipped, easy to find parking on the street. It was quiet and the location was good, easy to get to the city centre via tram.
What could be improved: There was no table to sit at, only a bar in the kitchen – this could be a problem if you plan to work (for a few days its ok). The instructions to get the keys were only sent in German. A few small touches would have improved our stay – for example, all the heating was off when we arrived and it took some time for the apartment to warm up. Similarly there was no shower gel in the bathroom and only half a roll of toilet paper. For some reason there are no pictures in the frames on the wall, they are all empty – some nice pictures of Dresden could be a nice addition.
