Campus Apartment Martin Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard “Campus Apartment Martin,” I was expecting some basic student housing situation. But this place on George-Bähr-Straße actually surprised me. It’s tucked into Dresden’s Plauen district, which honestly feels more like a real neighborhood than the touristy bits you usually get stuck in. The building itself has that solid German apartment feel, you know what I mean? Not flashy, but everything works properly and there’s this sense that it’ll outlast us all.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to keep that apartment vibe while still running it like a proper hotel. The rooms are spacious – I mean, actually spacious, not “cozy” (which we all know is code for tiny). You get a full kitchen setup, which is brilliant because let’s face it, eating out every meal gets expensive fast. The furnishings are modern but not trying too hard, and honestly, the beds are better than what I have at home. There’s decent soundproofing too, which matters because German streets can get lively, especially when there are football matches on. I stayed during a quieter period in late spring, but I’d imagine it holds up well even when the nearby campus gets busy.
The location is where this place really shines, though most people probably don’t realize it at first. Plauen isn’t right in Dresden’s historic center, but that’s actually a good thing – you’re living where actual Dresdeners live, not in some sanitized tourist bubble. There’s a solid tram connection that’ll get you to the Altstadt in about fifteen minutes, maybe twenty if you’re traveling during rush hour. But honestly, some of my favorite discoveries were just wandering around the neighborhood. There’s this excellent bakery about three blocks away that clearly caters to locals (the owner’s English is charmingly limited), and the whole area has these tree-lined streets that make evening walks actually pleasant. Parking isn’t a nightmare either, which – if you’ve driven in German cities – you’ll appreciate more than you might expect. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me; it’s the kind of place that does everything well without any major hiccups, though it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches. What it offers instead is something better: a genuine feel for how people actually live in Dresden, with all the practical comforts that make a stay memorable for the right reasons.
