Apartment Zschachwitz – frisch renovierter Wohlfühlort! Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from this little apartment tucked away on Schweizstraße – I mean, Leuben isn’t exactly the first district tourists think of when they’re planning their Dresden trip. But honestly, “Apartment Zschachwitz – frisch renovierter Wohlfühlort!” (and yes, that translates to “freshly renovated feel-good place,” which sounds way less cheesy in German) turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel like you discovered something special.
The whole place has that satisfying smell of fresh paint and new fixtures – they really weren’t kidding about the renovation part. Everything feels crisp and thoughtfully put together, from the kitchen cabinets that actually close properly to the bathroom that doesn’t have those weird mysterious stains you sometimes find in budget places. I actually spent more time than I’d care to admit just appreciating how the shower had proper water pressure, which… well, if you’ve stayed in enough European apartments, you know that’s not always a given. The owners clearly put some real effort into making this feel like a home rather than just another rental unit. There’s this comfortable, lived-in quality to the furnishings that makes you want to settle in with a book and some coffee from the little machine they’ve got set up.
What really sold me on the location – and this is something you won’t figure out from just looking at a map – is how genuinely peaceful this corner of Dresden feels. Schweizstraße is quiet enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open (trust me on this, the street noise situation in some parts of Dresden can be… intense), but you’re still only about fifteen minutes by tram to get into the historic center when you want to do the whole Frauenkirche and Zwinger thing. The 62 tram line runs pretty regularly, and there’s a decent bakery just a couple blocks over where the locals actually go – you can tell because there’s always a line of people speaking rapid German and looking slightly impatient. I ended up grabbing breakfast there most mornings instead of dealing with the tourist trap cafes downtown. Parking was surprisingly straightforward too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate Dresden by car will appreciate. The whole Leuben area has this sort of residential charm that makes you feel like you’re actually experiencing how people live here, not just checking items off a sightseeing list. For a 3-star place, it honestly punches above its weight – that 8.6 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed there.
Hotels near me in Dresden offer convenient access to the historic Altstadt, where guests can easily walk to the Zwinger Palace, Semperoper, and other architectural masterpieces.

Very Good – Jutta from Germany – May 21, 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Leider besteht für mitgebrachte Fahrräder draußen keine überdachte Unterstellmöglichkeit. Da sich die Wohnung im Dachgeschoss befindet, muss man einige Treppen steigen.Sehr empfehlenswert – Petra from Germany – April 28, 2025 (9/10)
Die Wohnung ist gemütlich eingerichtet und es gibt ausreichend Parkplätze in der Straße. Zum Bus ist es nicht weit und auch der Bahnhof ist fußläufig zu erreichen.

Wonderful – Jestaria from United States – December 27, 2024 (9/10)
Pretty much everything. It was interested to see how different German and American rooms are.
What could be improved: Roof angles kept on hitting myself, the machine you use to iron your clothing was dirty as if it was burnt from the bottom.Very Good – Marta_narta from Poland – August 1, 2023 (8/10)
The apartment is well equipped and very good commute to the city center of Dresden by bus, tram or train.
What could be improved: You have to park car on the street. The neighborhood is safe but for someone it could be a problem.Exceptional – Shana_t from Latvia – May 20, 2023 (10/10)
Nice and comfortable apartment. Perfect for 3 travellers. All necessary facilities were in property.
What could be improved: It was problematic to contact with the owner. Owner didn't reply messages and did not respond to the phone callA pleasant stay – Atinuke from United Kingdom – September 8, 2022 (10/10)
I don't usually leave reviews but the hosts were very lovely. We accidently locked ourselves out of our apartment one night and they were patient with us and managed to get the key from the apartment. There was also some sort of double booking so we had to be moved to another apartment for one night. That apartment was also brilliant.
It's definitely a place worth staying at if you're looking to visit Dresden. It's also walking distance from the train station. I'd definitely recommend the hosts. Very lovely.
