Apartment Dresden City Centre Overview

You know what struck me first about this place? It’s actually in an apartment building on Manitiusstr., which sounds intimidating if you don’t speak German, but honestly – it’s just a quiet residential street that puts you right in the thick of Dresden’s Altstadt without the tourist chaos outside your door. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the Frauenkirche, but when you step inside, it feels like you’re staying in a neighborhood where people actually live.

The setup is pretty straightforward – think modern apartment conversion rather than traditional hotel vibes. The entrance threw me off initially because you’re buzzing into what looks like any other Dresden apartment building, but once you’re in, it makes perfect sense. The units themselves are clean and functional, though don’t expect luxury touches at this price point. What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup – actually useful if you want to grab groceries from the little markets along Wilsdruffer Straße instead of eating out every meal. The beds are decent (I’m picky about this), and the WiFi actually works, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in these older Dresden buildings. Street noise is minimal since Manitiusstr. doesn’t get much through traffic, though you’ll catch the occasional tram rumble from nearby – kind of soothing actually.

Here’s the thing about the location that most people don’t realize until they’re there – you’re positioned perfectly between the postcard-pretty tourist zone and the grittier, more interesting parts of Dresden that locals hang out in. Walk one direction and you’re at the Semperoper taking photos like everyone else. Walk the other way toward Neustadt and you’ll find the bars and restaurants that aren’t in every guidebook. The 7.6 rating makes sense to me – it’s not going to blow you away, but it does exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. I’d honestly stay here again, especially if I was planning to spend more time exploring rather than lounging around the hotel. Just know you’re getting an apartment experience, not a hotel lobby with concierge service – which for some people is actually perfect.

Early hotels booking in Dresden requires advance planning during peak cultural seasons when visitors flock to see the city’s remarkable post-war reconstruction and artistic treasures.

Reviews of Apartment Dresden City Centre

  • Good – Gintaras from Lithuania – July 14, 2024 (7/10)

Apartament was not far from old town and there was enough free parking in the street near the apartament.

What could be improved: The description of the apartment stated that there would be a washing machine in the apartment. Only after paying rent for the apartment, the owner sent information that an additional fee would be required for using the washing machine. It's not fair and it's an unpleasant surprise. There was no shampoo and shower gel in the apartment, so when you arrive you have to go to the shop first, not the shower.

  • Very pleasant stay and wonderfull city – Raflin from France – July 7, 2024 (7/10)

Large apartment. Near train. Confort. Good beds.

What could be improved: Few coverts for beds few tissues for bath

  • A good stay in lovely Dresden – Gemma from United Kingdom – June 26, 2024 (7/10)

The apartment was very spacious. The living room had both a sofa and a dining table, which is quite unusual in our experience, and the TV actually worked, which is unheard of. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything as advertised. The street we were on was very quiet and there was a brilliant supermarket just across the road. Although the apartment isn't in the centre of Dresden it is a walkable distance; there's a tram stop very nearby and a train station as well. Dresden itself is lovely and we had a fab stay.

What could be improved: We did have an issue with the use of the washing machine- it was advertised as included but when we turned up, the plug was in a locked box and there was a sign saying we needed to pay. We then queried this and were told we had to pay even more because we hadn't informed her in advance that we needed use of it. We did eventually win the fight but had to contact Booking.com to do so. You may want to check this before booking/arriving if you're on as tight a budget as us.

  • Our stay was great apart from the Wifi. – Rob from Netherlands – June 14, 2024 (8/10)

The appartment is situated at a great location.

What could be improved: The Wifi was absolutely lousy and practically non functioning: 5 mBps!

  • Good – Christine from Italy – November 4, 2023 (7/10)

Quite basic, good wifi and tv, comfortable bed and nice bathroom. Kitchen well equipped. Free Street parking but hard to find a spot for a large car. Good transport by bus to centre. Not great value for money for 1 person only.

  • Great accommodation to stay while exploring Dresden. – Filip from Serbia – October 12, 2023 (9/10)

The host was very responsive. It was easy to communicate.
The location of the accommodation is quite convenient. It is close to the old city center and it is easily reached by a tram.
It is about 25 min walk.
The flat is very spacious, and there is also a nice balcony with a view on a big courtyard.

What could be improved: The bathroom needs a towel hanger for bath towels (there is a towel hanger for hand towels) and some clothes racks.
The bed linen for additional bed (3rd person) as well as the duvet could be better (both were very thin).

  • Overall, the stay is still comfortable. – Yee from Singapore – September 25, 2023 (7/10)

Clean and spacious apartment. Location is near tram station.

What could be improved: 1 of the bed has a sunken portion. There’s no toiletries. Toilet and dining area has a stale urine smell. Although washing machine is included in the facilities, but still have to leave €5 cash for its usage.

  • Very Good – Zelda from Australia – June 9, 2023 (8/10)

    Close to train station.
A bonus there were coffee sachets + tea bags appreciated on arrival.
Mini market + Asian 7 minutes walk away.

What could be improved: Shame I did not see I had to request use of washing machine which was locked.

  • Good – Татьяна from Poland – April 9, 2023 (7/10)

    Good TV, well equipped kitchen

What could be improved: It was cold in the apartment, floor was really dirty

  • Very Good – Péter from Hungary – October 23, 2022 (8/10)

    quiet and close to downtown

What could be improved: repulsive smell of cigarette smoke
