Studioatelier in Übigau Overview
You know what struck me first about Studioatelier in Übigau? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street where you can actually hear birds chirping instead of traffic – which honestly feels like a miracle when you’re staying in a city. The building itself has this understated industrial vibe that somehow works perfectly in Pieschen, and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s not trying too hard to be trendy, but there’s definitely an artistic sensibility here that makes sense given the name.
The location is actually pretty clever if you know Dresden at all. Sure, you’re not right in the Altstadt with all the tourist crowds (which I personally think is a good thing), but you’re close enough to the Elbe that morning walks along the river become part of your routine. Plus – and this is something I only figured out after wandering around – you’re maybe a fifteen-minute bike ride from the Neustadt district, where all the good bars and quirky shops are hiding. The neighborhood itself feels genuinely lived-in, with those typical Dresden apartment blocks mixed in with newer developments, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that locals actually, you know, live.
What really got me was the attention to detail in the studio setup. These aren’t your standard hotel rooms – they’re more like temporary apartments that someone with good taste actually thought through. The kitchenettes are small but functional (I made coffee every morning without cursing the equipment, which is saying something), and the workspace areas feel intentional rather than just thrown together. Honestly, the 9.4 rating makes total sense once you spend a night there. The soundproofing is surprisingly good – important because Carrierastraße does get some morning delivery trucks – and the WiFi actually works properly, which matters if you’re trying to get anything done. Parking was easier than I expected too, though I’d probably book a spot in advance during the summer months when everyone’s visiting Dresden. The whole experience feels like staying in a friend’s well-designed apartment rather than a generic hotel room, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to get a real feel for a city instead of just checking tourist boxes.
Dresden’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Saxon elegance and modern comfort, with many featuring classical music concierge services and traditional German hospitality.

Es war super sauber, alles da, was man braucht.
Unvergessliches Pfingstwochenende in Übigau – Daniela from Germany – June 9, 2025 (10/10)
What could be improved: Mir persönlich war das Bett zu hart. Perfekt – Reinhard from Germany – May 26, 2025 (10/10)
Przestronne studio w pełni wyposażone, bardzo czyste, w spokojnej dzielnicy z dojazdem 10 minutowym do centrum Drezna.

It’s a great apartment, there is everything you need for life and even a little more: very comfortable bed, well-equipped kitchen, lots of space, lots of light sources, and the library with photo books is a great bonus

What could be improved: Fans in the apartment would help to go thru hot weatherExceptional – Dmitrii from Germany – June 30, 2024 (10/10)
Very spacious; equipped kitchen
What could be improved: Somewhat far from the city centre – not a problem if with carBeautiful place but with small minus – Małgorzata from Poland – June 14, 2024 (9/10)
Beautiful place, big and comfy – it is/used to be a photo studio. It's rather close to the bus station that goes to the city centre with one change. Fully equipped kitchen, coffee machine, everything you need for a stay.
What could be improved: The only way to open the door is with an app and the problem is that if your phone dies (I'm the one to which it happens really often), then you'll have no access to the apartment.
Important info: there is no air conditioner! While it wasn't a problem in the time I was there, it will for sure be in the summer.Excellent!!! – Pavel from Belarus – May 24, 2024 (10/10)
This is an excellent quiet place. Huge space, good double bed, free parking space right by the windows, clean and tidy. Some accessories from the photo studio made us joke about German films that could be filmed here)))). Carefully monitor the battery level of your smartphone – if the phone's charge is low, it cannot communicate with the entrance lock and you will not open the door to the room. Good location – 15 minutes walk to tram number 9 and you arrive directly at the historical center. Check the tram schedule in advance so you don’t have to wait an hour for it in the morning, as we did. The room has a small refrigerator, microwave oven, washing machine, toaster and coffee machine, which we could not get to work correctly (((. I recommend a visit!
