Hotel Elbflorenz Dresden Overview

You know what struck me first about Hotel Elbflorenz Dresden? It’s tucked away on Rosenstraße in a way that feels intentional – like they wanted you to discover it rather than stumble across it by accident. I mean, you’re right in the Altstadt, but somehow it doesn’t feel touristy or chaotic. When I walked up, there was this moment where I thought “wait, is this really a hotel?” because the building has that elegant Dresden architecture that actually fits the neighborhood instead of trying to scream at you from the street.

The lobby honestly feels more like stepping into someone’s well-appointed home than a typical four-star setup. There’s something about the lighting and the way they’ve arranged everything that makes you want to linger – I actually ended up chatting with the front desk staff for twenty minutes about local restaurants, which turned out to be incredibly helpful. They knew their stuff, not just the obvious tourist spots but places where locals actually eat. The rooms have this understated quality that works really well; nothing flashy, but everything you touch feels solid and well-chosen. The beds are properly comfortable (I’m picky about this), and honestly, the soundproofing is better than you’d expect for the location. You’ll hear some street activity during the day, but it’s more like gentle urban background noise than anything disruptive.

What really sets this place apart is how it sits in the neighborhood. You can walk to the Frauenkirche in maybe ten minutes, but you’re also close enough to some of the less obvious parts of Dresden that most visitors never see. There’s a great little café just around the corner that the hotel staff recommended – the kind of place where you’ll be the only tourist. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle (welcome to European city centers), but the hotel staff actually knows the local street parking situation and will point you toward spots that aren’t immediately obvious. I stayed during shoulder season in October, and the whole area had this perfect balance of being lively without being overwhelmed. The breakfast was solid – nothing revolutionary, but fresh and varied enough that you won’t get tired of it if you’re staying multiple nights. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury amenities or over-the-top service, but that’s sort of the point. It feels authentic to Dresden in a way that some of the bigger chain hotels in the area just don’t manage.

Reviews of Hotel Elbflorenz Dresden

  • Wonderful – Christopher from United Kingdom – June 15, 2025 (9/10)

The hotel is located a little out of the centre of town but only a quarter of an hour's walk or two stops on the tram (3.40 euros) and that stops on the hotel's doorstep. Reception and room were both first class and impeccably clean though the bathroom did have a stale water smell about it. There is an Italian restaurant on site (the 4cani) and an attractive outside sitting area with an artificial pond. We were not impressed by the courtesy of a male serving at the bar but everyone else was friendly and competent. We were fortunate to find a ground level parking space (free) immediately outside reception but there was also limited space in their payable underground car park. Excellent breakfast and overall excellent value for money.

  • Cute little hotel! – Darcy from United States – June 6, 2025 (10/10)

Great quiet location! Fantastic breakfast! Easy walk to train station!

What could be improved: The beds were a tiny bit hard.

  • The experience exceeded my expectations. The breakfast and suite were fabulous! Thank you. – Jana from Ireland – April 7, 2025 (10/10)

As always it has been an absolute pleasant and lovely experience to stay in this hotel, which has become my favourite hotel for my frequent visits in Dresden, Germany. The staff members are always friendly, and there is a 24/7 service available at the reception to accommodate any requests as well as late check-ins if needed. I love that there are free apples provided if you need a snack when leaving the hotel lobby. The breakfast has a rich variety of very tasty savory and sweet treats to have either cereals, bread with cold meats or cheeses, pancakes, or scrambled eggs with sausages and bacon, as well as some small pieces of cake, a selection of fruits and yoghurt, allowing for a nutritious and healthy, balanced meal. I always try to book a room with the breakfast included as it always sets me up for a great day. Also, the seat arrangement to enjoy your breakfast allows for a peaceful environment where you can choose where to sit in a spacious dining area.

What could be improved: There was nothing left to wish for at this time of my stay. The room was absolutely fabulous and exceeded my expectations of a peaceful and pleasant stay. The bed was very comfy, the shower functional, clean and very pleasant, the room itself was spacious with a lot of comfort on the top floor which made for a quiet and peaceful stay. Everything was perfect. Thank you.

  • Exceptional – Moe from United Kingdom – March 12, 2025 (10/10)

Staff were very kind. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fabulous!

  • Professional hotel with excellent staff and breakfast – Kerry from Germany – January 29, 2025 (10/10)

It was a little outside the city center, but still a nice location for us. Easy walking to the Christmas markets. Attached to World Trade Center, train stops and bus nearby. Quiet and great breakfast

What could be improved: It was all very nice.

  • Great stay. Would absolutely book there again. – Chailey from Germany – January 5, 2025 (8/10)

Calm environment. Clean, spacious room & facilities. Friendly staff. GREAT location (can easily walk into the old town but the tram is on the doorstep if you need it.

What could be improved: Only one tiny request: put kettles and cups in the rooms for people who want a cup of tea before bed. In the lobby I went to the bar for a tea around 9pm…. and waited and waited for the waiter…. then I gave up.

  • Exceptional – Ana-maria from Romania – December 26, 2024 (10/10)

For the it is very important to feel safe, and the hotel is placed in a quiet neighborhood.

There are a few supermarkets 15 minutes away as well as some smaller store(netto) right in the complex where the hotel is.

The stuff was super nice and helpful, and all of them speak English.

Breakfast was diverse and tasty with vegan options, too.

I didn't use public transportation as the hotel is 20 minutes away from the central train station and the main attractions.

I really loved Dresden. It is the cleanest and safest city I've visited so far in Germany and my stay at this hotel made the experience even better.

    I will definitely come back.

What could be improved: All was perfect

  • Great location and excellent breakfast – Bruna from Poland – December 16, 2024 (10/10)

Great location, great breakfast and a comfortable room. Starting with the location, it is close to the city center and, on foot, you can reach the main places (Old Town) in about 15 min. The breakfast was excellent, with many options, and the staff were attentive and careful. My room had a metal-frame bed, which might not be the most comfortable if you want to lean back while reading or watching something. However, this wasn't an issue for me, and I had no problems with the mattress or pillows. The room wasn't very large, but the purpose of our city break was not to spend a lot of time there. It was more about having a nice, comfortable place to return to after visiting the Christmas market. 🙂

What could be improved: It's not something I disliked, but some people might find the bathroom curtain an issue. It's an older style, and the floor can get very wet after a shower.

  • Nice location, parking garage underground attached to area – Julia from Germany – December 2, 2024 (10/10)

    Friendly staff, large rooms

What could be improved: No kids at the restaurant, but able to eat at the bistro/bar

  • The hotel us located adjacent to the World Trade Center ans has a tram that will take you into the old town. – Hanna from Canada – October 27, 2024 (8/10)

It was a nice older hotel. Considerably larger than I expected.

What could be improved: The rooms were small but largely okay.
The beds had metal frames which were really uncomfortable to lean on while reading in bed. The temperature in the room was hard to regulate, although you were able to open a window.
