Hotel Bayerischer Hof Dresden Overview
You know what surprised me about Hotel Bayerischer Hof Dresden? It’s tucked away on Antonstraße in Neustadt, but it doesn’t feel hidden at all – there’s this quiet confidence about the place that hits you right when you walk in. I mean, the building itself has that solid, no-nonsense German architecture thing going on, but inside it’s warm and actually pretty stylish without trying too hard.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Dresden like a local rather than just hitting the tourist spots. Neustadt is where things get interesting – you’re literally a ten-minute walk from the Elbe riverfront, and all these little cafes and bars are scattered around the neighborhood that most visitors never discover. The hotel sits on a fairly quiet street (thank god, because some Dresden hotels can get noisy with all the tram lines), but you’re still close enough to hear the gentle hum of the city. I loved that I could walk to the Augustusbrücke in the morning with my coffee and watch the mist come off the river, then head back toward the Hauptstraße area for dinner without needing to figure out public transport.
What really won me over was how the staff actually seemed to know their city – not just the obvious stuff, but they pointed me toward this incredible little bookshop on Görlitzer Straße and mentioned when the weekend farmers market happens nearby. The rooms are comfortable in that understated way that 4-star German hotels do well; everything works, the beds are properly firm, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The breakfast was solid too – nothing fancy, but good bread (obviously), local honey, and they had real coffee, not that watery hotel nonsense. I did notice the WiFi could be a bit spotty on the upper floors, but honestly, being slightly disconnected in Dresden isn’t the worst thing. Parking was straightforward if you’re driving, though I’d recommend exploring on foot once you’re settled. The whole Neustadt area has this relaxed, almost bohemian vibe that’s completely different from the more formal old town across the river, and staying at Bayerischer Hof puts you right in the middle of it. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra day just because you’ve found your rhythm in the neighborhood.

Wonderful – Derek from United Kingdom – June 23, 2025 (9/10)
Lovely hotel with convenient parking. We had a spacious room with a sofa which was great. A 20 minute walk from the old town area but an easy tram journey if you don't want to walk. We loved our stay here.
What could be improved: The approach to the hotel from the car park is more pleasant than the main street entrance which is straight off the street and easy to miss when you are looking from the highway but no real negatives.Excellent place to stay that is near the bus depot. – Meredith from United States – June 18, 2025 (10/10)
Beautiful large clean bedroom and bath.
What could be improved: I wished that I could stay longer!Very convenient and comfortable stay – Madeline from Albania – June 17, 2025 (9/10)
Staff were very helpful, rooms were good value for money. Comfortable bed, very clean bathroom. Was provided with kettle on asking. Handy location for Neustadt, including its station etc. Considering how close it is to roads and rail, quiet.
What could be improved: Breakfast was 22 euros a pop so we walked to the station instead.Perfect stay close to Central Station – Ronald from Canada – June 9, 2025 (10/10)
Wonderful “homey” vibe with pleasant staff located a 5 minute walk from the station and a pleasant 1/2 hour walk to the old town.
What could be improved: For an older person, the bathtub/shower can be a challenge due to slippery floor, a deep tub and lack of any practical handrail – a rubber floor-mat would be a big help. Still a terrific, clean and up-dated accommodation in a great location.Superb comfortable hotel – Kelvin from United Kingdom – June 8, 2025 (10/10)
Very friendly, very safe, very comfortable, very quiet. And the breakfast is excellent
