I’ve stayed in plenty of places that claim great locations, but this one genuinely delivers on that promise. The Frauenkirche is literally a few minutes’ walk away — I timed it at about three minutes to the main square. The Zwinger palace complex? Maybe five minutes if you’re strolling. What I really appreciated was being able to walk to the Semperoper in the evening without dealing with trams or taxis. The location score of 9.8 makes perfect sense once you’re actually here, and I can see why couples rate it so highly for romantic getaways.

The Apartment Experience

These aren’t hotel rooms in the traditional sense — you’re getting a proper apartment setup, which changes everything about your stay. My room had a full kitchen with everything you’d actually need, not just a mini-fridge and hope for the best. The space felt genuinely livable rather than just somewhere to crash between sightseeing. I mean, having a proper coffee setup in the morning instead of hunting for cafes? That’s the kind of detail that makes a difference when you’re trying to ease into your day.

What Sets It Apart

The thing about Hapimag is that it operates more like quality serviced apartments than a typical hotel, and that shows in how they’ve thought through the details. The building is well-maintained without feeling sterile, and there’s something refreshing about having actual living space rather than just a bed and bathroom. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out — they pointed me toward a local restaurant that I never would have found on my own, tucked away on a side street but absolutely worth seeking out.

  This hotel is located in the city square where everything is happening. We even can hear the concert from the event in the square (it's finish early, so not disturb us at all). The room is big and facility is good.

  The apartment was very spacious, beds were comfortable and the location was fantastic. Perfect for Christmas Markets.
  
  What could be improved: Some internal renovations happening which we were not informed of meaning we had to walk over an uneven construction site in the courtyard to access our room.
  I have mobility issues and uneven surfaces/boards are not ideal for me to walk over, especially when the area is not well lit.
  Only one pillow each.
  The apartment could have been cleaner, lots of cobwebs and some little bugs (ladybug and a couple of spiders). Very sparse in terms of supplies – there is a coffee machine but no pods or supplies to make a coffee with. No teabags etc. No cleaning supplies or dishwasher pods. No individual toiletries, only one combined shower gel/shampoo and soap bars at bathroom sinks.
  The listing advised we would have bottled water but there was none – not ideal when you're a thirsty traveller after a long journey with medication to take! The apartment was also very warm and with no clear instructions on how to operate the air conditioning, we couldn't get it to cool down much meaning we had to open all the windows. Not ideal for security on a ground floor apartment but also not ideal for noise as we were then woken at 7am by noise from outside.
  The reception is only manned until 5pm so no-one there to raise issues with and we were not asked on check out how our stay had been.
  
  This apartment cost almost 3x what we paid for a night in Prague and it was 2x more than we paid to stay in Berlin and to be honest, it was not worth the extra money. We'd come back to Dresden in a heartbeat and are already planning a trip for 2024 but we will not be staying here again.
