You know what caught me off guard about Grüne Oase? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – it really does feel like a green oasis tucked away from all the tourist chaos. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from Dresden’s Altstadt with all the rebuilt baroque madness, but somehow this little spot on Wachsbleichstraße feels completely removed from it all.

The whole setup is honestly pretty clever. While everyone else is scrambling for street parking or paying through the nose for those touristy hotels right on the Neumarkt, you’ve got your own secure garage spot underground (trust me, this matters more than you think in Dresden’s narrow old streets). The building itself has this quiet, residential vibe – I stayed there during Striezelmarkt season when the city center was absolutely bonkers, but you’d never know it from inside. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place, nothing fancy but everything works properly. That Nespresso machine is a nice touch, actually – beats the hell out of those terrible instant coffee packets you get at most places in this price range.

What I really appreciated was how it sits right at that sweet spot between the historic center and the real Dresden neighborhoods. You can walk to Frauenkirche and all that tourist stuff in maybe ten minutes, but if you head the other direction toward Neustadt, you hit all these great local bars and restaurants that actually have reasonable prices. The street itself is surprisingly quiet for being so central – I think it’s because it doesn’t really lead anywhere touristy, so you don’t get those big groups wandering around at all hours. Honestly, I slept better there than at some 4-star places I’ve stayed at. The 9.6 rating isn’t just inflated review nonsense either – the staff clearly gives a damn about the place, and it shows in all those little details that usually get overlooked. I’d definitely stay there again, especially if I wanted to explore Dresden properly without dealing with all the crowds every time I stepped outside.

  Het was een mooi stijlvol appartement, van alle gemakken voorzien. Locatie was met name top! vlak bij tram, restaurantjes en supermarkt.
  
  What could be improved: De traumahelikopter landde 's nachts een paar keer. Dat gaf een hoop herrie. Als je langer wil verblijven, zou meer bergruimte ook fijn zijn.

  Sehr ruhige Lage ca. 20 – 25 Gehminuten von der Altstadt. Jedoch auch mit diversen Straßenbahn gut erreichbar. Für 2 Personen ausreichend Platz. Gastgeber sehr freundlich und immer erreichbar. Gegenüber das Café im Klinikum hat tgl auf und hat gutes Frühstück

  What could be improved: Wanted a central location, but the description that it is close to the old part of town ("Nähe Altstadt") is slightly misleading. It takes a good 30 mins to get to the tourist heart.

  Very clean and comfortable apartment especially the bed and pillows in a quiet residential area around 15 walk into the city centre. Less than 5 min walk to the tram and train station. There is underground parking available but we parked on the street as there was a spot available. Marcel is very friendly and helps with any questions you may have. Lots of good recommendations for restaurants etc. Self check in/out was very simple and easy following his instructions via the link in the email he sends. Would recommend!

  Everything was fine.
  Host was very caring.
  Room was quite modern, with nice 1st floor view, heating was good, all kitchen accessories were on place so it was easy to prepare breakfast, bakery is on the other side of the street, parking is free on the street and still garage is an option in case street is full.
  
  What could be improved: The distance to market square is more then 2km so be prepared to have a long walk. (using tram is possible)

  This small apartment is spacious and of high quality immaculate throughout, and only a short 30 minute walk to the centre. It has every item you might need for a short stay – and some you won't. The underground car park meant we felt our car was safe for the entire time we were there. Although negotiating the bends was a little hair-raising! The decor is classically modern, chosen with good taste and comfort for the guest in mind – and with high quality items – crisp cotton bed linen and fluffy towels, for example. washing powder and dishwasher tablets were provided, along with basics of salt, oil, coffee etc. Marcel kept in touch with us throughout our 3 day stay, but never in an intrusive way. I would not hesitate to go back – or to recommend.
  
  What could be improved: My only quibble is the lack of a salad bowl – and kitchen towels for dishes and hands in the kitchen area. And the car park corners are difficult to negotiate!

  Apartment is nice, as in the pictures. It's a calm place to stay despite that the hospital is near. I'm a light sleeper but I didn't even need the earplugs even though we were sleeping with open windows. Marcel the owner was always reachable and answered all our questions 🙂 I would definitely stay there again 🙂
