So I stumbled across this apartment rental in Dresden’s Neustadt district – you know, the artsy side of the river that locals actually prefer over the tourist-packed Altstadt. Dresden-Altstadt-Neustadt-3-Raum-Fewo-L11 is basically a three-room apartment on Ludwigstraße, and honestly, the location surprised me in the best way possible. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Albertplatz with its tram connections, but tucked away enough that you won’t hear drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM like you would closer to the Frauenkirche.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – it’s got that practical German efficiency thing going on without being sterile. Three rooms means you actually have space to spread out, which is rare for city center accommodations that don’t cost a fortune. I mean, it’s rated 3 stars and honestly feels about right for that level – clean, functional, with everything you need but nothing fancy. The 7.4 rating makes sense too; it’s solid without being spectacular. What I really appreciated was how quiet Ludwigstraße gets at night, especially compared to the main drags. You can actually sleep with the windows open in summer, which is clutch because German apartments can get stuffy. The building itself has that pre-war Dresden character – you know, the kind that survived the bombing and feels authentically local rather than reconstructed for tourists.

Here’s what really works about staying in Neustadt though – you’re walking distance from Kunsthofpassage (those crazy architectural courtyards that Instagram loves) and the whole Äußere Neustadt scene with its breweries and late-night spots. But you can also cross the Augustus Bridge in fifteen minutes and hit all the major sights. Parking can be a bit of a hunt on this street if you’re driving, just so you know. The tram situation is actually brilliant from here – Line 7 or 8 will get you pretty much anywhere you want to go in Dresden. I’d definitely recommend this place if you want to experience Dresden like someone who actually lives there, rather than just checking off the tourist boxes. It’s not going to win any design awards, but it’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a few days and really get a feel for the city.

  Die Ausstattung und die Aufteilung war für 2 Freunde sehr gut. Die Lage der Wohnung ist sehr zentral und ist gut an den öffentlichen Nahverkehr angebunden.

  De locatie ten opzichte van het centrum was top!! 1.5km lopen langs de Elbe en je bent er. Parkeren kan voor de deur en kost niks.
  
  What could be improved: Het geluid in de omgeving, trein die geregeld voorbij kwam en de auto's. Omdat we in de zomer waren en het 30 gr was en het app geen airco heeft wil je graag het raam open laten en dan is het goed gehorig. Wij hadden ook een 2 slpkamer app geboekt dit heeft het ook alleen kan er in 1 slpkamer maar 1x1pers dus lig je alsnog op de slaapbank in de woonkamer.

  Wir waren mit 4 Personen und Hund für vier Tage in Dresden. Die Lage der Wohnung ist optimal um zu Fuß in die Altstadt, Neustadt und zu Konzertveranstaltungen z.B. in der Rinne oder im nahegelegenen Schlachthof zu gelangen. Auch der Bahnhof Neustadt ist bequem zu Fuß erreicbar. Trotz Großveranstaltung (Rammstein-Konzert) gab es genügend Parkplätze. Die Wohnung ist gut ausgestattet, recht geräumig und hat einen schönen Balkon mit Blick in den Innenhof. Insgesamt waren wir sehr zufrieden.
  
  What could be improved: Leider liegen der Wohnraum mit der Schlafcouch und das Doppelzimmer Richtung Leipziger Straße und zum Bahnhof hin. Der Lärm von Fahrzeugen aller Art ist enorm. Mit offenem Fenster schlafen ging gar nicht. Bei geschlossenem Fenster ging es dann. Bei der Buchung hatte ich nicht beachtet, dass die Wohnung im dritten OG ist, was für ältere Menschen und den Hund nicht optimal ist. Aber es gibt auch Ferienwohnungen in den unteren Etagen.
