Die kleine „Louise“ in der Neustadt mit Tiefgarage Overview

Honestly, when I first walked up to Die kleine “Louise” on Louisenstraße, I almost missed it – and that’s actually part of its charm. This little three-star gem sits right in Dresden’s Neustadt, which if you know the city at all, you’ll recognize as the artsy, slightly bohemian side across the Elbe from all the baroque tourist stuff. The building itself has that understated elegance you find in this neighborhood, nothing flashy but solid and welcoming in a way that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something locals have been keeping to themselves.

What really sold me on this place was the underground garage – I mean, you don’t realize how much of a godsend that is until you’re driving around Neustadt’s narrow streets at 8 PM looking for parking. The garage entrance is smooth, well-lit, and honestly takes all the stress out of arriving in the city. Once you’re upstairs, the whole vibe shifts to something more intimate and personal. The rooms have this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake, like someone’s stylish aunt decorated them with actual care rather than ordering everything from a hotel supply catalog. You’ll notice little touches that matter – good lighting for reading, proper hangers in the closet, windows that actually open (trust me on this one, especially in summer).

The location is where Louise really shines, though you won’t find this spelled out in typical travel guides. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Hauptstraße, where all the vintage shops and cafés are, but far enough off the main drag that you’re not dealing with weekend party crowds stumbling past your window at 2 AM. The Kunsthofpassage – those famous courtyards with the musical drainpipes – is basically around the corner, and you can walk to the Elbe riverfront in about ten minutes if you want to cross over to the old town. But here’s what I really appreciated: there’s a fantastic little bakery two blocks down that opens early, perfect for grabbing actual German breakfast before the tourist spots wake up. The neighborhood feels genuine in a way that’s getting harder to find in European city centers, where you’re sharing the streets with people who actually live and work here, not just passing through with cameras. With a 9.2 rating, Louise clearly gets the balance right between being professional enough to handle your travel needs while keeping that personal touch that makes you want to come back. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Dresden, but it nails being the kind of spot where you sleep well, feel at home, and leave knowing you picked the right neighborhood to experience the city.

Reviews of Die kleine „Louise“ in der Neustadt mit Tiefgarage

  • If you're alternative or young at heart, you might fall in love with this place like I did. – Adam from New Zealand – August 5, 2025 (10/10)

Perhaps my favourite place in three months of travelling Europe! You're right in the heart of Neustadt, a trendy bohemian style suburb in Dresden. However, the apartment is so quiet, you can't hear a single thing from the street, or even your neighbours!

There is a balcony with a table and chairs, and it overlooks absolutely lovely gardens between the buildings. There are a couple of cats that stroll around down there, as well as pigeons and bats flying around, so plenty to enjoy observing in the evening while you sip a wine or puff away.

Loads of great shops, bars, restaurants, etc., around the building. Directly downstairs in an Italian pizzeria, or next door is a great bar, or across the road is an Algerian restaurant next to a Rock and Metal Bar, there's Turkish just up the road, or no end of other options in the surrounding streets. You are truly spoiled for choice. 🙂

The apartment has everything you need, it is totally kitted out, I was super impressed with how stocked it is in terms of cookware, dinnerware, utensils, etc. The bathroom is nice, the kitchen is nice, and the bed is nice. Perfect!

  • Good location, comfortable, and we could check in early – Ivan from Slovakia – April 22, 2025 (9/10)

It's well situated in a hip part of town with many bars and restaurants nearby, but there wasn't any noise. Parking is in an underground garage so you don't need to worry about your car at all. Their reserved spot is right next to the door leading to the elevator, so moving luggage was easy. The room is a fair size and well stocked with amenities (soaps, shampoos, that sort of thing). I can't comment about the kitchen as we didn't use it. It was possible to check in early, which is great. The host replied to messages quickly.

What could be improved: When you first arrive by car, it's slightly inconvenient because you have to stop in the street in front of a locked gate, get the keys from a lockbox on the wall, go inside the courtyard through a door and there unlock the gate so you can move your car inside. Luckily there was no traffic at the time so we didn't block anyone, but it might get a bit stressful.

  • Exceptional – Lynette from New Zealand – September 22, 2024 (10/10)

This was a comfortable and quiet apartment and we were happy for the night we stayed. Very comprehensive instructions on the underground parking made things easy.
There were lots of extras available in the kitchen but we weren't there long enough to make use of them. Very happy with our stay.

  • Exceptional – Andra from Romania – September 17, 2024 (10/10)

Clean, close to the Neustadt, with everything you need 🙂 private parking. Really recommend 😀

  • Clean room in strategic place – Garry from Germany – July 6, 2024 (10/10)

It was clean, complete with drinks and the location is really strategic. Would love to come here again whenever I visit Dresden

What could be improved: We knew it was going to be so warm, so we tried everything to keep the room warm, unfortunately still unsuccessful.

  • Good place to visit Dresden – Ademar from Netherlands – June 10, 2024 (8/10)

Good location, easy transport to the center, places to eat very close.

    What could be improved: Nothing.

  • Great flat in perfect location – David from Canada – May 22, 2024 (9/10)

Good location and very fair price, clear instructions for check-in and parking. Cozy feeling with nice balcony and clean

  • Perfect for solo traveler – Iryna from Czech Republic – March 17, 2024 (10/10)

Cute little apartment with home vibe. Perfect location: close to the center and at the same time in the middle of the day and night live of the city. Also clean air and surprisingly silent bcs of the yard view.

  • Lovely apartment not far from the center, everything is completely according to the description – Kateryna from Ukraine – September 21, 2023 (9/10)

    Parking garage, equipped kitchen, balcony

  • Really cosy place in a great location – Iuliana from Romania – May 8, 2023 (9/10)

Despite the small size, the place looks really nice and welcoming. We had everything we needed as the host left coffee capsules and tea and we also found a nice welcome gift. There was a balcony and free safe underground parking. And bikes were available for rental at a very small price. And there was a smart TV. The area was also nice with many great restaurants nearby.

What could be improved: The bed was not comfortable. And the host, despite being very helpful and nice, only speaks German.
