It’s right in Plauen, this leafy residential district that most tourists completely miss, but locals know it’s where you go when you want that authentic Dresden vibe without the constant hum of tour groups.

The apartment itself is refreshingly straightforward – clean, functional, with those tall German windows that actually open properly (you’d be surprised how rare that is). What struck me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re still technically in the city. Plauen has this almost village-like quality once the sun goes down, and from the apartment you can hear birds in the morning instead of traffic, which… well, it’s not something you expect when you book accommodation in Dresden. The whole area feels lived-in rather than touristy – there’s a proper bakery just down the street where the woman behind the counter will definitely judge your German, and you’ll walk past actual families heading to school and work rather than groups clutching guidebooks.

Getting into the city center is actually pretty straightforward once you figure out the tram system (and honestly, Dresden’s trams are reliable enough that you stop worrying about it after the first day). The 3-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be fancy, just comfortable and clean, which is exactly what you want when you’re planning to spend your days exploring the Altstadt anyway. What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup – you can actually cook a proper meal if you want to, not just heat up instant noodles. The whole experience has this residential authenticity that makes you feel less like a tourist passing through and more like someone who temporarily lives in Dresden. Plus, with an 8.7 rating, clearly other people have figured out that sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you – they just quietly do everything right.

  Die Ferienwohnung befindet sich quasi unmittelbar auf dem Campus der TU Dresden und ist somit auch relativ zentrumnah (zwei Straßenbahnhaltestellen bis zum Hauptbahnhof). Die Wohnung verfügt über einen großen Wohnraum in dem auch die Ess- und Schlafmöglichkeiten sowie eine kleine Küchenzeile untergebracht sind. Das Badezimmer ist separat und verfügt über eine Dusche.
  Im Erdgeschoss des kleinen Gartenhauses sind drei Fereienwohnungen untergebracht. Im Hausflur befindet sich eine kleine Waschküche in der eine zur gemeinschaftlichen Nutzung bereitstehende Waschmaschine vorhanden ist.
  
  What could be improved: Für "Selbstversorger" könnte die Küche ein wenig großzügiger eingerichtet sein.
  Die Waschmaschine befindet sich auf dem etwas hellhörigen Flur. Man sollte bei der Wahl der Waschzeit darauf achten.

  Buona la posizione perché ben collegato al centro con il tram e all'università (raggiungibile a piedi). Spaziosissima la camera, un vero miniappartamento. Ottima per lunghe permanenze.
  
  What could be improved: Dotazione televisiva limitata: solo canali tedeschi. Per me non è un problema, ma se uno deve restarci a lungo può essere un limite: capita la sera che uno non vuole uscire e, restando a casa, vuole guardare la TV.

  Geräumiges, sehr gut ausgestattetes Apartment, sehr sauber und genütlich. Sehr gutes Bett. Schlüsselübergabe hat perfekt funktioniert, Empfang war freundlich und alles Relevante wurde mitgeteilt. WLAN stabil und ohne Probleme. Perfekt zum Campus der TU Dresden gelegen. Hervorragendes indisches Restaurant in der Nähe, gut zu Fuß zu erreichen. Parken auf der Straße ohne Einschränkung möglich.
  
  What could be improved: Eigentlich nichts. Jammern auf hohem Niveau: Die Dusche war sehr rutschig und eine Ablage für Duschgel, Shampoo etc, in der Dusche wäre nett.
