Bergwirtschaft Wilder Mann Hotel und Restaurant Overview
Honestly, when I first pulled up to Bergwirtschaft Wilder Mann on Großenhainer Straße, I wasn’t expecting much – the Pieschen neighborhood isn’t exactly where you’d typically look for a solid hotel stay in Dresden. But you know what? Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you venture beyond the obvious tourist zones, and this place is exactly that kind of pleasant surprise.
The thing about this spot is it feels genuinely local in a way that’s hard to fake. I mean, it’s technically a 4-star place, and yeah, the rooms deliver on that promise with proper amenities and comfortable beds, but there’s this authentic Saxon hospitality that goes beyond the star rating. The restaurant downstairs – which, let’s be real, is probably the main draw for most locals – serves up traditional German fare that actually tastes like someone’s grandmother perfected the recipes over decades. The schnitzel here is ridiculous (in the best way), and on weekends you’ll hear a mix of Dresden dialects floating up from the dining room, which honestly makes the whole experience feel more authentic than those polished hotels in the Altstadt where everyone’s speaking tourist English.
What I really appreciate is how they’ve managed to maintain that traditional Gasthof atmosphere while still giving you modern comforts. The parking situation is actually decent – not something you can say about most places in Dresden these days – and you’re genuinely well-connected to the city center without dealing with the crowds and inflated prices of staying right in the historic district. The S-Bahn connections from Pieschen are solid, so getting to Frauenkirche or the Zwinger takes maybe 15 minutes, but when you come back in the evening, you’re in this quieter residential area where you can actually hear yourself think. I stayed here during Striezelmarkt season once, and while the city center was absolute chaos, Pieschen felt like a peaceful refuge where real Dresdeners live their actual lives. Sure, it’s not going to give you those postcard views of the Elbe, but sometimes you want a place that feels like a discovery rather than an obvious choice – and Bergwirtschaft Wilder Mann delivers exactly that kind of experience.

Good – Anna from Poland – June 16, 2025 (7/10)
Wonderful view from the restaurant over Dresden. The waitress who served us was very nice and open. I would gladly return to this hotel again.
What could be improved: The taxi ordered by the hotel for 4:00 am did not arrive. There was no one at the reception to whom I could report the problem. Fortunately, a hotel employee arrived at work and helped me3 stars and a half – Eimantas from Lithuania – August 19, 2024 (7/10)
Good location, free parking, clean rooms.
What could be improved: The consistency of information between booking and hotel is out of touch, even different shifts of reception is out of touch.
The booking says the check in is until 22:00 we get an email that it is until 20:00, but the reception did work until later anyway.
Breakfast is 19e per person for sub basic of any standard hotel that just has that price counted in, the only real selling point is good service and the view from terrace.Very Good – Heather from Singapore – November 13, 2023 (8/10)
Nice clean comfy room with a view; breezy check in once you give all info online.

What could be improved: Restaurant food quality was poor to average. Water temperature fluctuated a lot.Very Good – Zeeshan from Germany – February 22, 2023 (8/10)
Very neat and clean hotel. Well organized and decorated. The staff is really friendly. My family specially thankful to Frau Aslam, she was super cool and friendly. She give chocolates to my son which is 2 years old. We all very happy with these act of kindness. Which is not very common now a days.
What could be improved: There is nothing negative in my view to be honest. 🙂Perfect location for traveling. – Ondrej from United Kingdom – September 3, 2022 (9/10)
Great hotel in great location. Comfortable beds and clean room.
What could be improved: NothingFantastic stay and breakfast – Rocua18 from Czech Republic – August 22, 2022 (9/10)
Very nice helpful staff (they tried hard to speak in English). The hotel had a small storage room for our bikes. The breakfast is fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The restaurant has a really nice view of Dresden.
What could be improved: The only -expected- issue was the location since it is 5km away from the center and doesn't have many things to see around, it doesn't invite to go out for a stroll
