Appartements am Schillergarten Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Appartements am Schillergarten, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t your typical hotel setup. It’s tucked away in the Blasewitz district, and honestly, the residential feel of the area makes it seem like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than checking into some corporate chain. The building itself has that solid German architecture you’d expect, but what really caught my attention was how quiet everything felt — even though you’re still very much in Dresden.
The Neighborhood Advantage
Blasewitz is one of those neighborhoods that locals know about but tourists often miss, which is actually perfect if you ask me. You’re close enough to the city center that getting to the Frauenkirche or the Zwinger takes maybe 15 minutes, but far enough out that you escape the tourist crowds completely. There’s something really nice about walking back from dinner and seeing actual residents going about their evening routines. The parking situation here is genuinely stress-free too — they’ve got private spots on-site, which anyone who’s driven in German cities will tell you is worth its weight in gold.
The Apartment Experience
These aren’t hotel rooms in the traditional sense, and that’s exactly what makes this four-star place work so well. Each apartment feels like someone’s actual home that they’ve just happened to lend you for a few days. The kitchen setup is proper too — not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation, but actual cooking space if you want to grab some ingredients from the local markets. I mean, there’s something satisfying about making your morning coffee in a real kitchen instead of fumbling with those tiny hotel coffee makers.
What Makes It Special
The location rating speaks for itself really — couples consistently rate it above 9 out of 10, and after staying here, I get why. You’ve got the Elbe River literally a few minutes’ walk away, and the whole area has this relaxed, almost village-like atmosphere that’s perfect for evening strolls. The staff manages to strike that balance between being helpful when you need them and completely invisible when you don’t. It’s clear they understand that people choosing apartment-style accommodation usually want a bit more independence than the typical hotel experience offers.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both local and comfortable at the same time. You’re staying in a real Dresden neighborhood, shopping where locals shop, but you’ve still got all the conveniences you need as a traveler. The recent guest ratings consistently hover around 8.3, which honestly feels about right — it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers exactly what it promises. If you’re the type of traveler who’d rather feel like a temporary resident than a tourist passing through, this setup in Blasewitz really works.

Reviews of Appartements am Schillergarten
Miło, świetna lokalizacja nad rzeką. – Michał from Poland – July 31, 2025 (9/10)
Apartament jest mały, ale ma wszystko co konieczne, aby kilka dni komfortowo spędzić. Lokalizacja jest naprawdę SUPER. Rzut beretem nad rzekę oraz aż do dwóch fajnych ogródków piwnych.
Very Nice stay. – Petra from Czech Republic – September 12, 2024 (8/10)
Location, communication with owner, parking lot.
What could be improved: Pozor Wi-Fi.Excellent location for visitors who prefer to stay in a historical atmospheric suburb. – Andrzej from United States – July 31, 2024 (9/10)
I loved the location. This is primarily for people who want to spent time around Blasewitz and Loschwitz. There is a phenomenal river from Schillergarten and two historical funiculars, all within minutes from the property.
Great apartment for a short stay – Michell from United States – May 14, 2024 (7/10)
The location was convenient to everything. It was very clean. The building was quiet and very secure.
What could be improved: It was not well equipped for a longer stay. There were no cooking utensils, and when we asked for a spatula or wooden spoon, they said they didn’t have any. Also, there is construction across the street that starts at 7:00am. If that bothers you, double check if it is complete before booking.Pleasant – Eliza from Poland – May 5, 2023 (6/10)
-fast and efficient way of communication with the owner, from booking to check-out,
-lovely location, on the Laba River, quiet apartment (except for the street tram, which you can hear)
-clean room
-close to the centre of Dresden (Zwinger, Semperoper, Altmarkt, Neumarkt, etc.)
-very close to very good a restaurant, beer garden, ice cream am SchillerGarten, close to shops like Edeka
-good starting point for seesighting of Schloss and Park Pillnitz, Meissen, etc.
What could be improved: -very weak wifi signal (basically impossible to use)
-it is not mobility accessible room (as it is presented on booking.com); the room is not adapted for people with disabilities (entrance to the kitchen space and bathroom ca. < 55 cm; moreover, there is a radiator behind the bathroom door so the door does not open fully; no handles in the bathroom, no possibility to drive a wheelchair or rollator into the bathroom), no possibility to use the mirror in the bathroom – too high for people in wheelchairs, no space in the bathroom for assistant to help a disabled person
-to recover the city tax collected, the need to fill out documents; in other hotels, it is enough to show the relevant documents and the amount of city tax is not chargedExceptional – Katalin from Sweden – April 24, 2023 (10/10)
The apartment was tidy and super clean. The location is perfect, the tram stop is very close. The communication is excellent!
Wonderful – Michael from Czech Republic – April 19, 2023 (9/10)
Nice location along the river, very clean and tidy room, easy communication and check-in/out. Even a small room can contain almost everything you need. The possibility of own fenced parking was very helpful for us. Apart from very small details, perfect accommodation! I recommend! 🙂
What could be improved: Only details:
You can hear passing trams from the street, but you get used to it easily.
One of the motion sensors for the lights in the hallway did not work, so we had to walk almost the entire dark hallway before the other one turned on.
Wi-fi does not work with modern smartphones – the login page cannot be loaded because the router has outdated firmware.Exceptional – Rudi from United Kingdom – December 16, 2022 (10/10)
Everything .. from the ease of booking and communication with the host .. could not have asked for more ..
What could be improved: Only down side and it's a minor one is the welcome pack was only in German ..This was a good stay for us, it was clean comfortable, the beds were great, and the location was excellent. – Andrew from Australia – December 13, 2022 (9/10)
Clean, well appointed with good facilities.
What could be improved: Just 2 things
1) the internet was really slow, to the point where we had to stop using it, and just use our mobile networks. Not sure if that’s intentional, it may not be.
2) The shower kept on flooding, the drain appeared to be blocked.
IMPORTANT: Both those issues are easily fixable, and should not dissuade people from staying there. The apartment was clean, the beds were comfortable, it was secure, the location was great, and we would consider staying there again.,Exceptional – Rea-silvia from Germany – November 3, 2022 (10/10)
Small apartment Nr 5, spotless clean, kitchenette with everything you may need for a short stay – fridge, microwave oven, coffee maker and cofee, water boiler, glasses and plates etc. small büro table, wi-fi, easy access, secured parking lot, value for money, attention to detail, 24/7 check-in. A lot of usefull information provided by the host, everything very well organized. Highly recommended
What could be improved: A little bit far from city center, but very close to river Elbe and I really enjoyed walking along the river in the morning, so it didn't really bothered me. Tram station to city center very close.
