ACHAT Hotel Dresden Elbufer Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to the ACHAT Hotel Dresden Elbufer – honestly, Leuben isn’t exactly the district that pops up in all the Instagram posts about Dresden. But here’s the thing about staying a bit outside the tourist bubble: you actually get to breathe, and this place sits right along the Elbe riverbank where locals come to jog and walk their dogs in the morning.
The hotel itself has that solid, no-nonsense German efficiency you hope for but don’t always get. Check-in was refreshingly quick, and the staff – well, they actually seem to know the city beyond the obvious Frauenkirche recommendations. When I mentioned wanting to avoid the crowds at Zwinger Palace, the front desk guy suggested hitting it early Tuesday morning and pointed me toward this little café on Hauptstraße that locals frequent. The rooms are what you’d expect from a 4-star place, nothing fancy but everything works properly (and I mean everything – the shower pressure, the wifi, even the air conditioning actually cooled things down). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. You’re far enough from the Altstadt chaos but close enough that a quick tram ride gets you there in about 20 minutes.
Here’s where this place really wins though – that location along Brünner Straße puts you right by the river, and honestly, some of my best Dresden moments happened just walking the Elbe path at sunset. You can see the city skyline from a completely different angle, and there’s something about watching the paddle steamers chug by while you’re sipping coffee from the hotel’s riverside terrace that feels more authentic than fighting for space on Terrassenufer with all the tour groups. The breakfast spread is solid (proper German bread, not that weird hotel stuff), and parking is actually free – which, if you’ve ever tried to park near Dresden’s center, you’ll appreciate. I mean, it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s the kind of place where you sleep well, the staff remembers your name by day two, and you’re perfectly positioned to explore Dresden like someone who actually lives there rather than just checking boxes off a tourist list.
Hotels near me in Dresden offer convenient access to the historic Altstadt, where guests can easily walk to the Zwinger Palace, Semperoper, and other architectural masterpieces.

Very Good – Mišo from Croatia – July 31, 2025 (8/10)

Good but needs improvement – Ana from United States – May 30, 2025 (6/10)
The room was clean and comfortable, with good value for money.
What could be improved: Our experience was affected by the fact that on the day of our departure, before the check-out time, someone entered our room using a key, without knocking or asking for permission. They also entered another room we had rented. We believe it was the cleaning staff, but it was a very inconsiderate situation. It’s crucial to respect the guests’ privacy until the check-out time.Great hotel, great staff, comfy rooms and good food… excellent! – Bennyb from United Kingdom – April 15, 2025 (9/10)
This hotel was a little off our route but it seemed good value for money on the website and it most certainly was!
On arrival we were unable to park in the rear car park (we arrived quite late at night) but the reception staff said it would be OK and safe enough parked in the street.
Reception – we required 24hr reception and this can often be hit or miss but on this occasion the reception was great! There was a young Tunisian woman working at the time but unfortunately my friend and I did not get her name. She was extremely helpful, charming, positive and professional. She even opened the bar for us to get a beer to help us sleep!
The room was very comfortable with a great mattress and my friend and I both ad a great night sleep in our respective rooms. The bathroom facilities were also very good and the shower was powerful which I always prefer.
The next morning we were allocated a slot fir breakfast which was really useful and a good system to ensure best use of the dining room. The food was plentiful and delicious. Once again great staff and cleanliness in the diing room.

The hotel is reachable via Tramline and is a short walk form the station. The rooms are spacious and clean. The Cleanliness across was really good. Check in and Checkout process was a breeze.
What could be improved: The WiFi is horrible. I could not even open my E-Mail on cellphone. I had to use mobile data extensively, Which in Germany does not come cheap.Money for stay worth it! – Pavel from United States – March 25, 2024 (9/10)
