Louisenstraße 31 Overview

You know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard, and Louisenstraße 31 is exactly that kind of gem. I mean, the name literally tells you where it is – no fancy branding, just straightforward honesty – but don’t let that fool you into thinking it’s boring. This little 3-star spot sits right in Dresden’s Neustadt district, and honestly, I can’t think of a better area if you actually want to experience the city like locals do.

The thing about Neustadt is that it’s got this perfect mix of artsy energy and everyday German life – you’ll find vintage shops next to traditional bakeries, and street art covering walls that probably have centuries of stories. When I first walked up to the hotel, I was struck by how it just fits into the neighborhood fabric. No gaudy signage or tourist-trap vibes, just a solid building that looks like it belongs. The 8.9 rating makes total sense once you’re inside – everything works the way it should, the rooms are clean and comfortable (though don’t expect luxury finishes), and the staff actually seem to care about helping you navigate Dresden rather than just checking boxes.

What really sold me on this place was the morning routine. I’d grab coffee from the little café around the corner – locals queuing up for their daily bread and pastries – then walk the five minutes to the Elbe riverfront. You’re close enough to the Baroque Quarter that you can easily stroll across the Augustus Bridge when you want to see the famous sights, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tour groups outside your window at 7 AM. The trams run frequently from nearby stops, which honestly makes more sense than trying to drive and park in the old town anyway. Evenings in Neustadt are where this location really shines – the whole area comes alive with restaurants, bars, and this laid-back energy that feels authentically German rather than performed for visitors. I found myself coming back each night just to wander the streets, maybe grab a beer at one of the local spots where you’ll hear more German than English (always a good sign). The hotel itself might be straightforward – clean rooms, decent WiFi, helpful front desk – but sometimes that’s exactly what you need when the real attraction is everything happening just outside your door.

Das Appartement war sehr schön, gute Lage, ruhig. Frühstück direkt gegenüber in dem kleinen Cafe sehr lecker.

  • Sehr gute Wahl um Dresden zu besuchen! – Sergey from Germany – May 18, 2025 (10/10)

Ruhige, komfortable Wohnung mit allem was man braucht für kurze Aufenthalt. Direkte Verbindung mit dem Straßenbahn mit dem Hauptbahnhof und historischem Zentrum. Haltestelle in 5 Minuten.

What could be improved: Alles war gut.

  • Super saubere zentrale Wohnung – Joachim from Germany – December 19, 2024 (10/10)

Sehr zentral gelegen, netter Kontakt zum Vermieter, alles sehr sauber, wir werden gerne jederzeit wieder kommen.

What could be improved: Es gibt nichts zu bemängeln!!!

  • Wonderful – Rebecca from Germany – September 4, 2024 (9/10)

    Zentral. Liebevoll eingerichtet

What could be improved: Für 200 Euro die nacht zu teuer. Das sofa ist zu eng für 2 Personen.

  • Wonderful – Oleg from Germany – June 3, 2024 (9/10)

  • lovely, family friendly flat. – Jennifer from United Kingdom – August 29, 2023 (10/10)

It was a lovely modern flat in a cool and vibrant part of the city. there were lots of other families around and plenty of places to eat. The centre was just a short tram ride away ( the stop was on the street).

What could be improved: It was a little bit hot ( there was a bit of a heatwave while we were there) and, because the windows were open, it was a bit noisy at night from the nearby restaurants. Just happened because of the heat, could not be helped.

  • A great base for exploring Dresden and the surrounding area – David from United Kingdom – June 25, 2023 (8/10)

Excellent location, apartment is generally well equipped. Good to have a balcony, relatively little noise from neighbours or surrounding streets. Good communication with host.

What could be improved: The apartment is fine for 2 people, but 3 (or even 4) would find it small if staying for more than a couple of nights. As can be seen from the description & photos, there's no door between the bedroom and the lounge/kitchen, and anyone sleeping in the latter area might find noise from the fridge annoying. But you should always take earplugs!

  • Great location. Great apartment. Great value for money – Kieron from Germany – January 17, 2023 (10/10)

Tastefully decorated, comfortable apartment in a very convenient location with a flexible host. Compact but with everything we needed. In the middle of Dresden Neustadt (shops, cafes, bars ….) but nice and quiet. Easy to get to from the station (Dresden Neustadt 20 minutes on foot), close to 6 different tram lines. I would definitely book it again.

  • A little gem – Simon from Australia – November 10, 2022 (9/10)

Cosy, clean and tidy smallish apartment. Also liked the extra touches in the apartment i.e board games, coffee pods, salt etc..
Good location, close to a lot of eateries and bars/cafes.
