Hotel Artushof Overview

You know what struck me first about Hotel Artushof? It’s this perfectly positioned spot in Blasewitz that somehow feels both residential and accessible – I mean, you’re staying in what’s basically Dresden’s equivalent of a leafy neighborhood, but you can still get into the old town without any hassle. The building itself has this understated elegance that’s very German – no flashy lobby with marble everywhere, just clean lines and that sort of quiet confidence you get from a well-run 4-star place. Honestly, the 8.3 rating makes sense when you see how they handle the details. Check-in was refreshingly quick (no upselling drama), and the front desk actually knew useful stuff about the area rather than just handing you generic tourist brochures.

The rooms are what I’d call “properly sized” – not cramped like some European hotels can be, but not wastefully huge either. What really works is how quiet it gets at night, which surprised me given that Fetscherstr isn’t exactly a sleepy side street. The soundproofing is actually solid, and you’ll sleep well even if you’re one of those light sleeper types. The beds are firm in that good German way, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than my last three hotel stays combined. I appreciated small touches like having enough outlets near the desk (you’d be amazed how many places mess this up) and blackout curtains that actually block light. The breakfast setup is thoughtful too – not an overwhelming buffet situation, but quality stuff including proper bread and local options.

Here’s the thing about staying in Blasewitz that most people don’t realize until they’re here: you’re perfectly positioned to explore Dresden like someone who actually lives here rather than just hitting the tourist checklist. The Elbe riverbank is literally a five-minute walk, and if you’re into morning runs or evening strolls, that path along the water is gorgeous – especially during those long summer evenings when the light hits the river just right. Plus, you’ve got the Blue Wonder bridge nearby (locals call it Blaues Wunder), and honestly, the views from there are worth the short walk. The tram connections from this area are excellent – you can be in Neustadt or Altstadt in fifteen minutes, but when you come back in the evening, you’re returning to actual neighborhood vibes rather than tourist central. Parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in other parts of the city, which matters if you’re driving. Look, Hotel Artushof isn’t going to wow you with over-the-top amenities or Instagram-worthy design moments, but it nails the fundamentals and puts you in a genuinely nice part of Dresden that most visitors never discover.

Reviews of Hotel Artushof

  • Very Good – Agraphany from United States – August 4, 2025 (8/10)

I love the little kitchen that they built in.

What could be improved: Just the parking… maybe a wider space would it be easier for us if we travel with big cars.

  • Lovely hotel and pleasant stay. Would not recommend the nearby restaurant – Susan from United Kingdom – July 25, 2025 (8/10)

The hotel was lovely, very clean and had character. It is near to a tram stop offering frequent services to the centre.
Our room came equipped with a small kitchen which was useful for making drinks and using the fridge (there is a small cleaning charge if you want to actually cook in it).
    Excellent breakfast.
Other reviews complain about the noise and the hotel is situated on a corner with passing trams and traffic. However, despite having a room to the front of the building and keeping our windows open at night, we did not find it intrusive.
Also, some reviews comment on the heat. By keeping the main curtains drawn and windows open , we did not find it overly hot. We are not used to a/c at home though and can appreciate that others may be uncomfortable.

What could be improved: There are limited food options in walking distance of the hotel.

There is a restaurant under separate ownership/management within the hotel property. We used it twice. The first time for drinks only which was fine. As a result we decided to dine there that evening, It took over an hour for our food to arrive and required us to ask where it was. The main courses arrived before the starter (which we declined), My meal of chicken gyros was overpriced for what it was and had little chicken and a poor salad. No apologies were given for the delays, I would not recommend

  • Wonderful – June from South Korea – June 27, 2025 (9/10)

    Breakfast is modest.

  • ok – Peter from Germany – May 12, 2025 (7/10)

Very good looking building. Comfortable bed. Clean rooms.

What could be improved: The WiFi was not working during our stay. Unfortunately the staff did not tell us about this at the check in. We really needed the internet for work related reason. After asking the staff about it they told us that they already knew about this issue and would fix it in the future. They didn't offer us any alternative. For this price we were expecting at least some basic connection.

  • Good – Gesa from United States – December 3, 2024 (7/10)

Breakfast was plentiful and very German.

What could be improved: They charged for the water bottle in the room 3 Euro. The person in line in front of me at check out they charged €3 for the tea she made herself in the room

  • Very nice hotel, friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast and spacious rooms! – Magdalena from Germany – December 1, 2024 (9/10)

    Delicious breakfast!

  • Excellent place to stay in Dresden – Tauno from Estonia – November 9, 2024 (9/10)

Lot of room, good parking option for electric car, good breakfast

What could be improved: Nothing to complain

  • Very Good – Nguyen from Vietnam – October 30, 2024 (8/10)

Classic hotel. Family atmosphere. Very delicate breakfast!

  • Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable – Janice from United Kingdom – October 22, 2024 (9/10)

Lovely old hotel. I asked for twin beds but we got 2 bedrooms which was great as my husband snores! It’s not right in the centre but we got the tram in every day with a day ticket that can be used on the bus as well. Room was clean and beds comfortable, good shower

    What could be improved: Nothing

  • Wonderful – John from United States – June 29, 2024 (9/10)

Carpets were very clean and the room was larger than expected.
