Hotel Am Weberplatz Overview

You know what struck me first about Hotel Am Weberplatz? The building itself has this understated charm that you don’t really notice until you’re standing right in front of it on Weberplatz. I mean, it’s not going to blow you away from the outside – it’s pretty typical for this part of Dresden – but there’s something honest about that. The entrance is actually smaller than you’d expect, and honestly, I almost walked past it the first time because the signage is quite subtle. But once you’re inside, the staff genuinely seems to care about getting you sorted, which is refreshing. Check-in was quick, and the woman at reception actually gave me specific directions to a good bakery around the corner rather than just pointing vaguely toward “the city center.”

The rooms are what I’d call properly comfortable – nothing fancy, but everything works the way it should. The beds are firm (which I appreciate, though some might find them a bit too firm), and the windows actually open properly, which you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case in budget-friendly places. I stayed on the second floor facing the square, and mornings were pleasantly quiet – you get some foot traffic during the day, but it’s not a busy street by any means. The bathroom was clean and had decent water pressure, though the shower is one of those European setups where you really need to keep the curtain tucked in properly or you’ll flood the floor. There’s this little detail I loved – they have these heavy-duty hangers in the wardrobe instead of those flimsy wire things that drive me crazy.

What really works about this place is the location, and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way that every hotel claims. You’re actually in a proper residential neighborhood where people live and work, not some touristy bubble. There’s a small grocery store literally two minutes away if you need water or snacks, and the tram stop on nearby Zwickauer Straße gets you into Dresden’s old town in about fifteen minutes. The walk to the Hauptbahnhof takes maybe twenty minutes if you don’t mind walking, though I’d recommend the tram if you have heavy luggage. Honestly, I found myself enjoying the area more than I expected – it feels like you’re staying somewhere real rather than just passing through. The neighborhood has this lived-in quality, with locals walking their dogs in the evening and kids playing in the small park nearby. For a 3-star place with an 8 rating, it delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

  • Night in Dresden with car – Elmwood from United Kingdom – May 21, 2025 (8/10)

Large room, quiet, good value. Took our own kettle. Park on street outside. Easy walk to VW Glass electric car factory and though park, and to centre. Is on tram route, on uni campus. Near zoo.

What could be improved: Limited restaurant menu, Italian.Pasta. But food very good and english spoken. Parking on street outside. Hotel currently dislocated on google (the other side of the grassy area)

Good location , clean rooms , good breakfast on the terrace

Great stay apart from the wasps and no extra bed , hut no big deal and the customer service was great
    Thanks to the team 🙌

What could be improved: Arrived late , collected key from.key box , went to room , unfortunately there was only 1 double bed , yet we had booked a triple room.
Called on number supplied , no answer.
So we made do for the night.
After speaking to the friendly receptionist, it turn out the key box gave us the incorrect room key.
They were very apologetic , and gave us a discount.

No big problem but great customer service
Breakfast in the morning was great apart from the wasps 🐝🐝, but that the price for eating outside in summer no big problem 😆

  • Nice to stay there – Fatih from Germany – October 26, 2023 (7/10)

Rooms are clean and very large.
Breakfast and Wifi are within minimum expectation.
Staff is very friendly. I have requested them kettle and they have arranged it immediately.

    What could be improved: Recommendation:
Coffee machine could be brought to breakfast area so that people can select their coffee type whatever they want.
Wifi is not very strong. It could be acceptable.
I think it should be much more strong for better connection.

  • good value stay in quiet area – Janet from United Kingdom – May 23, 2023 (8/10)

    beautifully quiet leafy area

What could be improved: I arrived on a public holiday when all shops were shut. It would have been nice to have a kettle to make tea
