Dorint Hotel Dresden Overview
So I’ve stayed at the Dorint on Grunaer Straße a handful of times now, and honestly? It’s become my go-to when I’m in Dresden. The thing that struck me first – and still does – is how they managed to build something modern that doesn’t clash with all the baroque beauty around it. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Frauenkirche, but the hotel feels contemporary without being sterile, you know what I mean?
The location is actually perfect if you want to be in Altstadt but not right in the thick of tourist chaos. Grunaer Straße is quiet enough that you’ll sleep well (I’m pretty sensitive to street noise), but you can walk to the Zwinger or catch a tram to Neustadt without any hassle. There’s this great little bakery just around the corner that locals hit up in the mornings – way better than typical hotel breakfast pastries, though their breakfast spread is honestly quite good too. The rooms have this clean, minimalist thing going on, and I mean that in a good way. The beds are properly comfortable, not just hotel-firm, and the bathrooms have decent water pressure, which… well, anyone who’s traveled enough knows that’s not always a given in European hotels.
What really sells me on this place is the staff – they actually seem to know Dresden, not just the obvious tourist spots. Last time I was there, the front desk guy told me about this Christmas market in Neustadt that was way less crowded than the main one everyone hits. Small thing, but it made the difference between fighting crowds and actually enjoying mulled wine. The hotel bar is solid too, nothing fancy, but they make a proper drink and it’s got this relaxed vibe in the evenings. You’ll often find a mix of business travelers and tourists, which keeps the atmosphere from being too stuffy or too chaotic. Parking is available but it’ll cost you – honestly, I’d recommend just using public transport since the tram connections are excellent from here. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be a luxury palace, but everything works like it should, the place is spotlessly clean, and there’s this understated efficiency that I really appreciate. If you’re the type who wants over-the-top service and marble everywhere, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a reliable, comfortable base for exploring one of Germany’s most beautiful cities without paying resort prices, the Dorint delivers exactly what you need.

Reviews of Dorint Hotel Dresden
A valuable hotel as a base for sightseeing in the city – さんだあす from Japan – August 4, 2025 (9/10)
Visitor, Conditions: We stayed here on a Sunday night as a family of four (husband and wife, two elementary school-aged children). We drove.
Parking: There are two parking options. Both are located behind the hotel. One is a public surface lot. It cost 7 euros per night, but there is no security. The other is an underground parking lot within the hotel building. It cost over 20 euros per night (we didn't use it, so I don't know the exact amount), but there was someone at the entrance.
Reception: The process was quick and detailed. The staff were friendly and helpful, even with our children, which helped ease our tension.
Room: We used the room with sofa bed, which felt more spacious than we expected. There was enough space to spread out a large suitcase. The bed was the size of two single mattresses placed side by side, so we were very comfortable. The sofa bed was large enough for the children (although it might be a little unstable for adults).
There was also a bathtub, so we were able to relax.
Breakfast: There was a wide variety of food to choose from, including salad, ham, sausage, egg dishes, bread, soup, bread, coffee, and various drinks.
Location: It took about 15 minutes to walk to the old town (with my child) and arrived at the square with the church. It was a great location for exploring Dresden Castle, the Opera House, the palace, and more. There was a tram station right in front of the hotel, so if you got tired, you can take the tram.
What could be improved: I didn't feel particularly uncomfortable.Good value for money, due to allergy symtoms i would choose another place next time – Vaida from Lithuania – July 23, 2025 (8/10)
Great location, great variety of breakfast, clean room, convenient underground parking for an extra price
What could be improved: The room seems to be outdated. I have allergy for dust and after sleepover started to feel the symptoms.Recommended hotel for Dresden – Robin from United Kingdom – July 16, 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: No bar or anything else open Sunday eveningVery Good – Ester from Germany – April 4, 2025 (8/10)
Room was big and modern. Breakfast selection was very good. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Bed was very comfortable.
What could be improved: The location is practical and convinient but not very beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay and will return – Eve from Germany – March 10, 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is in a great position, just 10 or 15 mins on foot to the sights of Dresden. The big public carpark directly behind the hotel (Pirnaischer Straße) is only 7€ per 24 hours (pay in coins). Our room at the back of the hotel was spacious, comfortable and quiet. Staff were friendly, and there was a surprise card and little bottle of bubbly for my birthday. At breakfast there was a great selection, and the staff there were friendly, helpful and efficient.
What could be improved: It would be nice to have the bar opening times clearly displayed in advance. On our 3rd evening we were disappointed to find the bar closed, having enjoyed cocktails there on the other evenings. The shower was above a very high bath, which made getting in and out tricky, and potentially dangerous, for anyone slightly older.Wonderful – Ekaterina from Czech Republic – February 20, 2025 (9/10)
I think this hotel has great value for money. The room is spacious and the breakfast was rich. I would like to highlight professional and friendly staff. 10 minutes walk from the old town.
What could be improved: The only reason I couldn’t rate it 10 is that the facility isn’t very modern.Very Good – Gabriel from Germany – January 8, 2025 (8/10)
