Best Western Macrander Hotel Dresden Overview
You know what struck me first about the Best Western Macrander? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet residential street in Neustadt – Buchenstr. 10 – which honestly took me a minute to find the first time, but that’s sort of the charm of it. While everyone’s rushing around the touristy bits across the river, you’re staying in what feels like a proper Dresden neighborhood where locals are walking their dogs and heading to work in the morning.
The Neustadt district is where Dresden gets interesting, I mean beyond all the baroque stuff everyone talks about. You’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk to the Hauptstraße with its quirky bars and that amazing little bookshop café (I can never remember the name, but it’s there), and the hotel sits right in this sweet spot where you can actually sleep at night without trams clanging past your window every twenty minutes. The building itself has this solid, no-nonsense German feel – clean lines, efficient layout, rooms that actually make sense. I’ve stayed in plenty of European hotels where you can’t figure out how to turn on the shower or the bed’s wedged against some weird architectural quirk, but here everything just works the way you’d expect it to. The 4-star rating feels about right – it’s not trying to be fancy, but the details are there. Good water pressure, blackout curtains that actually block light, and honestly, the breakfast setup is better than places I’ve paid twice as much for.
What really sold me on this place (I’ve been back three times now) is how it feels like staying somewhere locals might actually recommend rather than just another hotel that shows up first in search results. The staff – well, they’re German, so don’t expect chatty small talk, but they know their stuff about getting around the city and they’re genuinely helpful when you need something. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me because it delivers exactly what it promises without any of that over-the-top hospitality theater you get at some places. Plus, parking is straightforward if you’re driving, which in Dresden city center can be… let’s just say complicated. You’re also close enough to walk to the Elbe riverbank for morning runs, and there’s this great little Italian place two blocks over that does proper aperitivo if you’re not in the mood for traditional Saxon food every night. I mean, Dresden’s restaurant scene has really evolved, but sometimes you just want decent pasta and a glass of wine that doesn’t cost thirty euros.

Reviews of Best Western Macrander Hotel Dresden
Would recommend except the traffic noise – Paul from France – December 17, 2024 (8/10)
Clean and comfortable. Not too far from tram to city centre
What could be improved: Bad level of traffic noise ,especially buses as there is a bus stop directly opposite .The stopping and starting was very noticable even from the fourth floor.NOTE I am a relatively light sleeper and am used to a quiet location so this would not affect everyoneExcellent – Peter from United Kingdom – November 6, 2024 (9/10)
Clean, warm, comfortable.
Clean and nice, but a bit lacking. Okay for price. – Moria from Israel – October 9, 2024 (7/10)
Room is clean and coffee machine is nice.
Infra red cube and gym also cute.
What could be improved: Not generous, offered in the room only 2 of everything (sugar, coffee, tea), not allowing to use it more than once for a couple. Slippers you also need to ask to get.
Pool was very cold! Not usable if you wanna enjoy it.Very Good – Uri from Israel – September 16, 2024 (8/10)

Wonderful – Jacqueline from Japan – January 18, 2023 (9/10)
I really liked the hotel room, it had everything I needed and more. One bonus for me was the coffee machine.

What could be improved: BW reception in the neighboring hotel, breakfast was also in the neighboring hotel
Very Good – Barbara from Germany – September 6, 2022 (8/10)
